IPHONE 3GS - Who is getting one?

My upgrade has been due for a few months now and have been holding off for this. Im a bit surprised at the costs, but all things being equal - if your not already locked into a contract and want to move - the deals are not so bad!

I think im gonna go for th 16 gig version for 44 quid a month and 89 quid for the phone

Anyone else?
Thoughts?
 
Stuck in the middle of a current iPhone contract and no early upgrades this time :(

But got the upgraded OS 3 software last night & it's great so not too bad - iPhone is great!! :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
 
Currently not under contract. Going for 16Gb Pay and Go. I rarely use phones for talking, it is mainly as a messaging device/software platform.

Not sure how early I will need to get to the O2 store to secure one though.

I envisage there being long queues - im doing it via phone (for pay monthly) so will be dialing from 8am tomorrow!

Not sure, it is a difficult one to call really as the apple fanboys will still be under contract on their 3G's. Saying that, I will be outside the store around 8am I think and if the queue is too long I will just phone O2 from the queue and see if I can get one delivered for Saturday (costs £9.50 I think).
 
I have the 3G version which I updated with the 3.0 software last night. Loving it. :thumbsup:

Think I will wait and see whether the 3GS is worth the extra over the original with the software update.

Hopefully there will be a lot of people like yourself, meaning the idiots queuing at the door at opening time (like me) might stand a chance of getting one :D

Id like to see a full side by side comparison of the 3G 3.0 and 3GS - but since im due an upgrade anyway, im gonna go for 3GS!!
 
I've got a 3G and am mostly happy with it, the v3.0 software adds some features that should of been there in the first place.
I don't think think the features in the 3GS are a big step forward from the 3G, so I'm not going to consider changing (plus I'm still on contract)
unless you are an apple fanboy it probably makes sense to upgrade to every other iPhone e.g. If you have an out of contract 2G, a 3GS is a big step up and probably worthwhile.
 
I agree Mark, although I don't use the outgoing calls function much at all so I am going pay as you go. I will top up every now and again and get texts with it. When it comes to the new one coming out I will whach this one on ebay and then upgrade.... will prob cost me £200-ish.

The main reason for upgrading will be the 12 months data you get with it. After the contract expires you can carry on for £10 per month. If I buy a new one I am already offsetting the £10 per month (£120 pa) against the upgrade, so the cost is minimal.

Of course, I (as of tomorrow, hopefully) am a fanboy ;)
 
im going to get a 32gb 3Gs as soon as they have them for sale on the apple site, going payg as i only use a phone for occasional texts and calls, probably less that £10 a months worth. going to sell my 1st gen 16gb iphone, its unlocked so should fetch a decent price hopefully, the new 3.0 firmware should be unlockable tomorrow which ill do before i sell it.

4% cashback from quidco when buying from the apple online store, plus another 1% cashback on the creditcard, every penny counts :thumbsup:
 
honestly... i'm annoyed with the release of the iphone 3gs. i didn't get the original because i knew they were going to release another one. i waited and waited. then they release the 3g and i got it. perfectly happy with it.. downloaded a ton of apps. and now.. the 3gs. is it better?? DAMN! it is.

waste more money on something that will be replaced a year from now? no thanks.

Word of warning folks,Ive got a 3G iPhone and much frustrated that there is no auto answer setting. I.e when using a Bluetooth headset.

Trying to slide the answer toggle on screen when driving is an accident waiting to happen, is this fixed on the v3.0 upgrade??
 
apple have always refreshed their products in this way, you dont have to buy the latest model, most people say skip a year before buying the next model. saying that i have a 2 and a half year old macbook pro and i have no need to upgrade, ill maybe just get the new os snow leopard when it comes out and buy a 2nd battery.

id love one of those 24" imacs too, had a 17" one 2 years ago (sold it to get the mbp) plenty of people moan bout apples cost and constant upgrades but i can safely say the ones ive bought have given me no problems and have been worth their money, buy once buy right is my motto, even if it costs you a little more initially.
