iPhone 10

Spotted the iPhone 10 is due for release towards the end of the year as tempted to go back to Apple but now seeing the cost :o I'm not so sure :?

Product Price Pre-order date Shipping date
iPhone X 64GB: £999. 256GB: £1,149 October 27 November 3

Crazy prices especially for the 246GB which I would go for to match my Hauwei Mate 9 pro which I've had coming upto 6 months now and has been a superb phone. I do like Android and probably prefer it but find the lack of available Apps frustrating at times.

Anyone planning on changing to the 10?

Tim.

Android through and through for me, now on my 7th Samsung in as many years, the S8+ is FANTASTIC!

£1,150 for a crApple handset, erm just no - But I'm sure the fanboys will lap it up :)

I still have another year to run on my iPhone 7 contract.........plenty of time for the price to drop :?

I've been carrying around my personal Nexus 5 and my work iPhone for the last year or so - just couldn't get on with the iPhone as you have to do things its way.... So I've handed back my work phone (but kept the SIM) and bought a OnePlus 5 - it's dual-SIM so I just have one phone to carry... lovely... :)

Personally I don't think any mobile phone is worth £1k+ but, that said, I'm sure there will be some people who have to have the latest Apple gadget and don't know the value of money so will buy the iPhone X

I was going to go for the iPhone 8 then saw the Samsung S8 was imminent but wasn't keen on the tinny single speaker, I had a HTC M7 at the time with the boomsound twin speakers which was great then came across the Hauwei which has twin speakers.

I agree the cost of Iphone 10 is daylight robbery. I can't see the prices dropping though if its an Apple unless you go second hand or end of line.

I'm still on my iPhone 3s  £999 what a rip off.

How do you get updates for the phone or sync it with iTunes as I haven't been able to update any older iPhones for a long time, if I connect my 3 to iTunes it just says its an old version and won't sync.

Tim.

I currently have an iPhone 6 and might look into the 8 sometime next year once there is some feedback on how they are working and holding up.

I'm a big fan of the iPhone, although the cost of the x is just rediculous. I have had iPhones every 24 months since the 3GS bar two years where I had a galaxy s3. For me iOS is better. I always go for the previous gen usually it happens to be the 'S' due to contract timings as the tech is refined.

To be honest I doubt most would even know the difference between the generations if the phones looked the same.

Especially the fail of the face ID on stage. Was a bit embarrassing.

Lovely phone tho. What you pay for is the fit and finish and that OLED screen looks incredible over 450ppi insane. OLED are amazing but have some negatives too like colour accuracy they seem to have solved the issue and its 120hz like the iPad, completely different experience everything is just so seamless. They seem to have created a lovely display round bezels etc. Its also nice they have added the twin lens camera to a more standard size so you don't have to buy the fablet plus. I struggle with the standard 6 size getting it in and out of my pocket wouldn't want a bigger phone.

Had my 6s stolen when my house was burgled and been getting by on a 5s so will wait to see then decide. 8 looks a great phone.

They arent fooling anyone this isn't really innovation its more adding more features that makes the experience interesting but you will forget about in a week or two. Its meant to be the phone to set the next 10 years in motion can't see it myself. They are solving problems for problems that are already solved, Touch ID is so convenient, with face ID say goodbye to unlocking your phone if its sat on a table without bending over for it to scan your face. Just seems like they are trying to find ways to innovate but there aren't really problems to solve on a smartphone.

They need to think about replacing the phone entirely, the smartphone race is over. Tech isn't moving fast enough to support year on year growth like 2008. The fact you can get by and not have a bad experience on a 3-4 year old device says a lot. Back in the day they bricked the original iPad within 3 years because it wasn't fast enough to run the software.

I want a new one because I'm using a hand me down but if I wasn't bothered I could use the 5s for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately I'm an apple fan through and through but doesn't mean I'm an idiot. iPhone 7 looks like a fantastic deal being free on most contracts now.

...but Samsung have been using screens like this for years and are going to be supplying Apple with the screens for the iPhone X. Even the old Galaxy S6 & S7 were 575+ PPI so Apple is playing catch-up and hasn't even bettered 3-year old tech... they've really lost their way since Steve Jobs died...

Yup, and the iris recognition on my S8+ works instantly, every time, even in darkness!

£1,000 for a mobile? :o

I'd rather spend that on a set of wheels for my Z4.

Almost exactly this, but I'd just refurb mine and get a carbon intake

I have a 5S hand-me-down as a personal phone and a 6 from/for work. Both do me just fine during the day as I have an iPad Air -or a laptop - for stationary time. A grand for a phone is just ridiculous.

You're way too flash for me Bing!

I have a Samsung C3050 that I bought in 2010 for £30 from Tesco on a PAYG deal!

It makes and takes calls, has voicemail, can handle texts so does all I need!

I had to buy a new laptop this year - got a Dell Inspiron 15 for about one third of the cost of this new iPhone.

Is it really that good?

This is why I gave up on my 3GS last year, no updates and more and more apps wouldn't work. I now have an SE which does the job for me.

Ye but I wouldn't buy a Samsung so its nice that the iPhone finally gets it. But completely agree as a designer and photographer they have pretty much left me in the dust. Use a windows 10 machine at work now which I actually quite enjoy using. All my personal stuff is Apple and prefer IOS and love mac OS.

Im using an old Mac pro 2010 with a hex core 3.33 upgrade 48gb or ram and a 512 NVME SSD. Its still chugging along fine, the creative apps are my issue really lightroom runs so badly on any machine that the performance difference is non existant and it still produces video at a decent rate for the amount I edit. I can also have 6 drives inside unlike the trash can where I would need to spend £500-1000 for an enclosure to put the drives in. Would love it if they could sort themselves out but its obviously not a priority... see what the imac pro and new mac pro brings. No doubt it will be 3-12k so that will be me out would rather get another Z4M :driving:
