Wife got me one for Christmas. I love it for what it is intended to be. Not a lop top, or to be used for office apps. But if you like to read books and listen to music, take your CD collection with you, share family photos with friends and relatives, it is hard to beat. Many of the free, or nearly free apps, can really make life easier. I have plenty of computers I use as computers, an I-Pad is what it is and I love mine. 
I don't really see the point in the iPad2, as it's basically just a bit thinner and with a camera. The original one is thin enough and does everything that I want it to. My desktop and laptop at home seem to have become a little bit redundant since I've had the iPad, I love it.
My first iPad is my iPad 2 and I love it! I use it for browsing, playin music, games and watching iplayey and it's perfect! My colleague sold his iPad 1 to get the iPad 2 because he uses factime a lot on his phone and wanted a bigger screen. He has said it is a lot more responsive than his iPad 1!

I'm a bit of a gadget addict, and not very faithful to my products--quickly jumping to the next best thing.
I have an original iPad, and got an iPad2 on launch week. I really couldn't justify the price / performance benefits so I took it back. The differences sound like a big deal on paper or benchmarks, but real world experience... not much of a difference. It is more of an iPad 1.5 -- incremental update. A little peeved still that they couldn't at least put a decent pair of stereo speakers on the device or upgraded the display resolution. A good buy if it's a persons first tablet. Not a good buy as an upgrade tablet from an iPad1. But once apps/games come out to take advantage of the dual core GPU maybe I will think differently of it.
I also bought a Motorola Xoom and took that back soon after, it was a nice device... but was way too buggy at the time. And it didn't do anything that my iPad can't do despite its higher specifications. I expect they have addressed most of the issues by now though. And recently I picked up a Playbook a few weeks ago which I have been using as my primary tablet since---and take it around with me everywhere. It has been a big upgrade from my iPad---so far my best tablet yet to be honest. (and not just saying that because it's a Canadian device and I'm from Canada.) Kinda cool that it runs the same QNX kernel that runs our Z4 telematics / Sat Nav systems.
Still waiting to try a HP Touchpad device to be released to give that a try.
In the end I think any user should buy the device that fits into their lifestyle / requirements the best. It's easy to get hung up on specifications but if you're not going to be using half those features anyway---then what good is it spending your money on them.

I bought an Asus eee Pad last week and am liking that too. Ipad2 is easier to use, Asus just looks lovely
I got one about a month ago in San Juan. Saving of about £120 over UK prices.
I had no intention of getting one, never really knew much about it but I was drunk .
I love it, use Skype video calls, check emails and read the news in the morning etc.. (I work on a boat for most of the year and it is great for keeping in contact with family friends etc...).
I now have 3 iPods, iPad, iBook and an iMac at home but never really considered myself a gadget person.
Autotrader App is fantastic!
