Has anyone updated their Apple phone to ios6?
Any problems with Bluetooth or the BMW apps?
I'm thinking of updating my 4s but put off because of Apple using their own apparent pants maps prog instead of Google Maps

i downloaded IOS6 for my ipad last week, the maps app is a total joke. not only does it look like it was designed by a 6 year old but some locations are in totally the wrong place, eg weymouth is a few miles south east of stoke on trent!

I have to say, I can't imagine this would have been allowed under Steve Jobs. Profit before product this time.

Updated my iPhone to 6 a few days ago and no problems with the Pro Nav and Bluetooth at all.

I'm now using iOS6 and not had any problems, Bluetooth and media cradle still working just fine as is iPod out etc :)

The maps app is totally sh!te, it doesn't even clearly show where stations are any more (as I discovered last night when trying to find Leeds station). Also try searching for earls court station, you get about 50 results. Gashorama.

downloaded & installed on mine, works great. Yeah, the maps is more of a work in progress, but still pretty impressive with the 3D. And if you want turn by turn, TomTom is great on the iphone (and on offer at the moment) - google was pants for navigation as it needed a good 3G/wireless connection; maps should always be pre-loaded IMO

For google maps, just open safari, go to maps.google.com and the use the "add to home screen" shortcut. Google plan to bring out a separate app shortly.

So apple release a new iPhone that drops google maps to everyone's dismay, replacing with an inferior tomtom / apple application

Tomtom then starts to offer their premium maps application at a discounted price?

That's 'Apple innovation' for you :)

Downloaded to iphone and ipad yesterday. Not tested in the Zeds yet.

Have to agree re the maps that while 3D is neat the look of them is so Fisher Price. Looks really horrible and in Satellite view the close up resolution of my village has gone. Just large squares.

Sorry Ranski but I have to correct you.

I work for TomTom and whilst I cannot say much at the moment, I can say that yes TomTom has supplied the Map Data to Apple. Data is the key word here, as Apple then mix this with other data from other sources, render all this into the map we now see.
Many of the issues you can see in the Apple map cannot be replicated on TomTom route finder on-line and therefore do not come from our data.

I'm as disappointed as the next man with the Apple map vs Google, and I'm sure there are many high level conversations going on to find a suitable solution.

As to TomTom app being on offer.... It's on promotion at various points through the year, has someone taken the decision to seize an opportunity, probably, and why not?

What did you need to correct me on?

Should I have put a bigger 'space' between tomtom and apple?

By tomtom 'seizing an opportunity' they only look more in bed with apple on this balls up, well to non tomtom employees :)

That's what I don't get...if TomTom supplied the map data, then how can it be wrong? Don't TomTom use another company for their map data? But how can it be wrong?

I don't think TomTom selling cheap makes them look bad, I think the map app makes them look bad, and if I was them I'd want answers why the data is wrong!

(allegedly wrong, haven't tested yet)

My point is that it's not a TomTom/apple application. Yes TomTom has supplied some (not all) map data to Apple which has been well documented.
TomTom also supplies many well know car brands, blackberry, HTC and Google.

What Apple does with the data from all their suppliers is create a database that is used to render the map. In this case something has gone wrong, obviously.

But to associate TomTom with the fact that Apple has launched an (widely perceived) inferior map to Google is incorrect. It's an Apple branded product, who ever (one of) the suppliers is is irrelevant.

Apple is making some stupid decisions recently, removing google maps on a device that is sold worldwide was a suicide move.... google has worked hard to perfect google maps over the years and apple has no chance of getting it on the same level in such a short period of time. Getting the name of the town in there is just the beginning many times I have punched a name of a shop or something i'm looking for on google maps and 95% of the time it finds it. This is not the case with the new IO6 maps and far from it... i'm also living in a town not marked on the map at all. They have also removed the native youtube app... It appears to me they are trying to do everything themselves instead of collaborating with company's that also make great products. No doubt any samsung component will be stripped from the circuit board and apple will start making these too..... The decision to remove google maps likely had a lot to do with the whole google android war and apple should grow up and realise that google maps and youtube are not google android.

also to add... the iphone 5 does not seem to be switching back to 2G when 3G disappears, I live in a remote town on orange 1 bar 3G signal and 2 bars 2G that fluctuates when 3G drops It does not go back onto 2G. They have also removed the 3G toggle switch and replaced it with LTE toggle. Bugger..... :headbang:

What I don't like now is when you search for an address on safari (google), once you had found it you could click the address and it would open it up in the google maps app, no it opens it in the web version which is not as good as the app, maybe that will change when the app comes out?
