So apple release a new iPhone that drops google maps to everyone's dismay, replacing with an inferior tomtom / apple application
Tomtom then starts to offer their premium maps application at a discounted price?
That's 'Apple innovation' for you

Sorry Ranski but I have to correct you.
I work for TomTom and whilst I cannot say much at the moment, I can say that yes TomTom has supplied the Map Data to Apple. Data is the key word here, as Apple then mix this with other data from other sources, render all this into the map we now see.
Many of the issues you can see in the Apple map cannot be replicated on TomTom route finder on-line and therefore do not come from our data.
I'm as disappointed as the next man with the Apple map vs Google, and I'm sure there are many high level conversations going on to find a suitable solution.
As to TomTom app being on offer.... It's on promotion at various points through the year, has someone taken the decision to seize an opportunity, probably, and why not?
