Hi y'all!

My name is Reinder (Pronounce it like: rider with an extra 'n'). I live in Velserbroek, nearby Haarlem en Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. While there isn't a dutch Z4 forum a applied for a membership at this forum.

Unfortunatly i haven't got myself a Z4 yet. At the time i'm owning a BMW 320D (model '07) and and Audi TT Roadster 225bhp Quattro. The TT is for sale. I love the looks of the car but i can't stand the handling and technical failure of the thing. It spoils the pleasure. :headbang: So that's why i am selling my Audi TT and planning to import a Z4 3.0i full options from Germany.

After buying i am thinking of placing a small LPG tank in it, while the Gasoline is very expensive in holland ($2,00 per litre). A small one, while i will only be driving on LPG on the highway. Transforming the Z4 in a bi-fuel car.

My question is: is the Z4 known about his electronical/technical failures/malfunctions or is 't a flawless car? Probably almost flawless, cause I have absolutely no complains about the 320D i'm driving.

P.S.: I apologize for my englisch, it isn't flawless :D

Welcome to the Forum! Your English is pretty good, actually.
The Z4 is not flawless, but in my opinion, has much fewer problems than most. There are minor inconveniences such as rattles and window fitting that pop up regularly that can be fixed by the dealers (or yourself), but overall a dependable vehicle.

Welcome reinder, when you get your car post some pictures!

As for the realiability of the Z4, I think you will find that the drivetrain, suspension, electronics, engine and chassis is solid, while the interior plastic covers & parts are more prone to problems. In all it's pretty good.

reinder, welcome to the forum...
IMHO while the Z4 is not flawless it's a very dependable vehicle. I have had 2 Z4's (2003 & 2006) and I have not had one serious problems with either car.

reinder, welcome!

. Glad you found us and I look forward to pictures of your new Z. Do you have to wait until you sell the TT first?

My personal experience has been a little different then some here. I have an '03 Z and have had no problems with any interior pieces/parts; no rattles, roof problems (if you're planning on getting a roadster), window issues ect. I have had one big problem however, and that was my steering which the dealership replaced under warranty. I haven't had any 'sticky' steering issues since then so I'm happy. Good luck with your decision and if you have time, read through some of the 'problem' threads so you can get an idea of the issues some of us have had. Overall, I'm thrilled with the car and so far, have no regrets

Welcome, fellow country man :)

I am on my second Z as well, few issues on the first one (new steering rack), none on my M (just a rattle that needs sorting out).

There is also a Dutch forum - http://www.z4forum.nl which is more Z3 based, but there are a few Z4 owners as well.

Reliability seems to depend on who you talk to. Personally, I haven't had any major issues but have had to bring the car in for minor warranty issues (cupholder, sideview mirror, headlight washer cover, etc). The great thing is that I can research information about problems on this forum so that I am prepared if they come up. That, I think, is priceless.

Good Luck, and welcome.

"All right Goldmember. Don't play the laughing boy. There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch. "

Welcome to the group. Are you considering a roadster or coupe? Either way I know you will enjoy your new ride when it comes
