I have spoken with Richard and am willing to host any updates until he sorts out the website and forum.

Below is Richards latest email on the situation:

I have leant that Simon died of a massive heart attack that must have killed him almost instantly. Simon was not married but leaves his mother and brother. He was in his late 40’s.

After some serious digging around in my backups and archives, the future of the Intravee firmware development and support now looks much more secure. I have managed to recompile the firmware and load it onto my Intravee to confirm that it functions in the same way as the last version that was built on Simons computers.

Leigh at ToysInYourCar has asked me to convey his continued interest in selling the product, that he still has stock and that he has a supply of the Intravee fuses as well as my self.

My next focus will be on trying to organise a web site that can be used for hosting files and providing first line support information, hopefully a forum and support e-mail address too. At this stage I do not know if the Intravee forum information can be saved, this was hosted on Simon’s computers which have been turned off. Even with access to the computers I suspect that they will require passwords to access the data. Simon was very security conscious, his brother said it took them several days to access Simon’s room as he had a numeric key pad lock on the door! I have some rather old forum backup files, the last being from late 2010, so some of the information may be retrievable from those.

Sending firmware images and the Intravee documentation by e-mail is not sustainable, the documentation files in particular are too large to e-mail in any volume.

Leigh owns the domain name http://www.intravee.com which currently redirects to the Intravee page on the ToysInYourCar web site. This would be the preferred domain name to host a new site.

In the short term Darren and Rob from http://www.bmw5.co.uk have agreed to host some files for people to download, you can find the thread at http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/topic/75485-the-intravee-thread/ Attached to the thread you will find the latest firmware, V6.02-6941, the downloader program, user guide, supported devices and PXA Supplement documentation. Many thanks to Darren and Rob for their help and support. I’ll also use this thread to keep people updated and save some e-mail bandwidth.

There currently appears to be no reason why production of the Intravee hardware should not continue, although no details have even been discussed yet alone finalised. Although I have not yet talked to the factory where they are made, they should have all the components and information required for production. Simon set them up so they would normally have no reason to bother him!

That’s all for now, try to keep an eye on the http://www.bwm5.co.uk thread for future developments.

Latest version

http://www.muga-uk.co.uk/ivfw256exp_extras_v6.02-6970.zip

Changes between 6941 and 6952 are :

- Added 'E39 Late' vehicle type to single line UI.
- Corrected bug that caused -No Magazine- to display instead of -No Source- under some circumstances if no source device could be detected on the selected AI-Net port.
- Corrected Now Playing menu display when no source detected to show just the menu title. This prevents the display of the standard BMW CD Changer menu with a 'Main Menu' option off the screen in Split screen mode.
- Added extra clear of High OBC message if the ignition is turned off while PDC is active and displaying on the High OBC.
- Many small code changes to reduce firmware size.
- Changed the CD Changer iBus response to be that of the MP3 CD Changer to reduce flickering on some versions of the Z4 CID.
- Changed the track time decode for the CHA-S605 and CHA-S607 CD Changers which use a different time format.
- Added extra status response for the CHA-S604 to prevent it continually sending the same AI-Net message and blocking the bus.
- Fixed bug in reducing the initial volume speed change rate when using the MFL volume keys.
- Added trap for processor not responding to initial power up messages, the power up sequence is re tried.
- Fixed bug in the check to trap for repeat and random of the CHA-S634 that are invalid for the iPod.
- Added option to set the default state of the Nav Audio instruction prompts to Off.

Changes 6959
- German translation update.
- Added support for Finnish language.
- Fixed serious bug with 6952 which prevented any AI-Net traffic unless certain debug modes were active.
- Added "print pxa" console command which outputs crossover, timing and Eq settings.
- Added support for setting the crossover points of the PXA-H100 for L and R channels independently.

changes 6963
- Updated Finnish translation.
- Added assignable key action to go to the Processor menu.

so I tried all the steps, and all I get is this
"not in application or bootloader? Check Cable?

I checked the cable and I did try to connect an Aten usb to RS232 directly but both aten and intravee have screw heads...
Cable used is a Startech, and laptop is a Win8 Enterprise 64

Think it needs to be xp, might still have my cable somewhere which worked. Am sure for a couple of beers it can be yours.

Thanks all.

Im at EN5

I have ordered a new cable in the meantime and set the downnloader to XP mode.

I have just updated my Intravee and can confirm that this cable off Ebay (£5.99 delivered) worked fine...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-to-Serial-RS-232-RS232-DB9-Adaptor-Converter-Cable-Lead-Wire-9-Pin-0-6m-60cm-/300861783924?pt=UK_Computing_Parallel_Serial_PS_2&hash=item460cc27f74

I chose this one because it comes with a full size CD containing the correct driver and was cheap but not too cheap if you know what I mean.

Only issue as others have said you need to hacksaw off the nut heads as the Intravee has these too. Dead easy with a Junior hacksaw though. If I had realised in advance that my nuts were going to clash I would probably have bought a different cable but if you have a junior hacksaw and are willing to cut your own nuts off this cable will do the trick.

What is TeraTerm, that is in the zip file for this?

The downloader is as I understand the tool to update firmware, what about the software that allows you to amend settings? Or is everything done from the Nav screen?

at the moment, and prior to any updates, all I can fiddle with are HoghOBC which makes no sense and audio settings like track name. It makes no sense

Fitted my Intravee to IMmie today and a couple of things don't work that did in #69. Auto door lock and unlock doesn't work, and neither does map scaling on the nav. It doesn't look like it's lost any settings so I guess an update and reset would be a sensible idea.

Anyone else transferred from a pre facelift to a facelift car? The vehicle type is currently set as an e46 v2 (no z4 option in the release I'm running)

Mines set as the e46 mk2, auto locks work fine as does map scaling. What firmware you on? I just uploaded a new build into mine today....

Remember to accept the disclaimer again and set the correct vehicle type if you move the IV between cars.

Did that yesterday. Bizarrely, it's all working again today. Must have been that the car needed to go to sleep and reboot. Either way, all good now.

Never been able to get my Startech working with XP...........I also get the "not in application or bootloader? Check Cable?
Tried numerous drivers to no avail.....gonna look for a different cable.

guys

When I got my intravee, I connected it all up and it worked, I set the nav to Mk4 onwards and thats it.

I seem to hear that I probably should have reset the thing???

How and with what software do you do this and all the other amendments?

Also there are blank options on screen when if selected go into menus.

very confusing
