Intravee question

Hi All,

New to the forum but thought id pipe up and join in because i got a lot of good info from you guys by reading old posts when i was looking into buying my Z4.

Apologies if this has been covered before but I've got an intravee question and its unlike any others i can find posts about...

I've just installed one (thanks to everyone on here who's posted how to advice and pictures!) and i'm not sure its working correctly. All works well except each button press causes the navigation display to flick back to what looks like the CD changer disc selection screen for maybe half a second making the menus really hard to navigate.

i'm on the new 6.02-6970 firmware but i tried the older 6.02-6941 and had the same problem, although the glitch duration appears shorter with the newer version.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated, and thanks again for all the help!

Mine does this too, and i'm on the latest firmware.

I have lived with it for over 3 years now though

That's not the Intravee, that's by design. The button in the middle of the head unit with what looks like overlapping squares switches between the audio source and the computer/Nav screens. If you leave it on the computer screens any change to channel, cd etc will temporarily flip to the audio screen and then back. I'm unsure if the time between screens is programmable though...

Thanks for your thoughts, this one's driving me crackers!

By the way this is the first forum I've ever used and I'm really paranoid about seeming rude - let me know if i do and i apologise in advance!

mac27040: thanks for the link - thats the version I'm on but i reprogrammed with the .bif from your link anyway just to be certain.

Stuart: Sorry if I'm missing your point but I'm not sure i understand what you mean? say I'm on the nav screen and change the track it displays the track info for a few seconds just as it did before when i changed radio stations. My problem is when I'm in the Ipod search or any of the intravee menus i get a half second long display glitch or flicker before the menu re-appears. half a second doesn't sound a long time but it makes it almost impossible to scroll down a list I have to stop after each turn of the button to let the display calm down.

I might be missing something obvious here but i cant imagine everyone's does it because its really intrusive! If its just me and aquazi having the problem i guess its a setting I've got wrong but I've had a pretty thorough play about and cant find one that makes any difference?

Ah, I misread your post then, not realising that the screen was breaking up.

F/w flash seems sensible, I'd also reset it to defaults and then set up the display and car type again to make sure it's not sending something to the car that the car isn't expecting. Might also be worth reseating the connectors to it...

I have had mine for atleast 3 years now, and it has always done it.

Flashes to the cd changer screen (so pick cd 1 to 6) from time to time when using the menu.

I am on the latest firmware too... And happens less the it used to with this; but still happens when i first select the intravee from the mode button.

I've learnt to live with it though. And mine's most certainly setup correctly, esp with the latest firmware having the software mode actually called Z4!

No worries! just tried defaults and a f/w flash, both no better - i guess connectors are up next which is a pain because i've re assembled the boot carpet! i did have a good clean when the carpet was out.

Certainly seems like you're right, i guess either the intravee is sending something un-expected or something in the loop isn't responding fast enough...

This is a characteristic of the European Z4 CID, it ignores the message to stop updating the menu area with the standard CD Changer menu with P1:CD1 etc.

With the 6.02-6970 firmware, press the 'Info' key while on the Intravee source and check the 'AudioText' option if you have it, this should prevent, or at least significantly reduce, the flickering.

tried this this morning and it worked a treat!

thanks for the help! I'm now a very happy intravee owner - these things are really, really good!

aquazi, definitly sounds like you have the same problem as me there - worth giving Richard's solution a go I'd say, hope it works for you too!

Damn... After 3 years this problem may go away :headbang:

Whats the info button?

Will try on my car when i am back in the country on friday and report back.

It's the button that says 'INFO' on it, next to the button with the phone symbol on, above the button with '3' on it.

You should get this menu (E46 screenshot)

Highlight the AudioText option and click the right controller, a red box with a tick will appear on the right.
