Intravee fitting notes

Can someone tell me what I'd need and how hard it is to fit an intravee to my Z4. I've got a 56 plate Z4, with SatNav (with the screen), no CD Changer and cubby holes behind the seats. I've also got BT but I doubt that matters.

Am I correct in thinking that all I need is the Intravee and I just plug it in?

Help me Z4 forum, your my only hope

Rich

It's pretty easy. Have you got a roadster or coupe as the procedure is slightly different depending. A decent guide here for the roadie anyway:

Check if you have the changer cable already installed. Mine did not and I have exactly the same setup as your car.

But as Playalistic & Pawnsacrafice know, if someone has been installed previously, the cable can be a PITA to get at, but I'd presume I was pretty unique! Great mod to the car, loving mine - thanks guys!

Yep all UK cars have the wiring in place, it's usually taped down where the cd changer would be. You need the intravee and the alpine unit that goes with it. Don't think the alpine units are available new anymore though, so it'll probably have to be an ebay job. Very easy to fit though, as you've said, just plug and play, and no the bluetooth won't effect anything.

Alpine still count them as in production, although special order. You can get them here:

Thanks guys .. I was going to reply sooner but I lost my post. So all I need is the intravee and the alpine (so ~£250). And the intravee is defiantly the best option?

I've realised my iPhone 3Gs has terrible reception in the cubby hole so I'm thinking about using the wifes old (pink) iPod Mini :)

How would people rate doing this, hard, very hard, easy, easy but fiddly? Are there any better options e.g. which end up in the glovebox?

Thanks

Rich

Easy mate i fed my ipod cable through the arm rest from the boot that was slightly fiddly.

After that mounted the 2 items with double sided tape and put the trim covers back.

Get yourself a trim removal tool off ebay £3 then your good to go.

After 24 hours you will have to wake up your ipod i pull down the arm press the ipod put arm back up and that's it.

I have the large classic type and it just presses into the arm.
Cheers

You can get the Alpine unit modded so it wakes automatically :)

I have an iPod that lives permanently in the centre cubby hole near the nav drive.
