Intravee and Alpine installation

Is impossible. That is all.

But seriously, I can't even seem to remove the lining/back area to get at the cables. It's riveted on? Think I might just take it to an auto electrics place up the road.

No rivits and the MC is easier than the roadster.

The last MC I fitted it in was from Raiffy, except for the short cables was a very simple installation. You get to the cables from the inside of the car, not from the boot.

Spud with an ///M I think you are wasting your time in the boot, tried it myself this weekend just gone.

Only options as pvr said is from inside the car by removing the rear centre console trim.

I have this job to do myself. So what's the problem with the Ms boot?

Isn't removing the rear centre console trim a pain? Requiring several other pieces to be removed?

At this rate I'll leave it until the national meet

It's been a few years since I did this but I'm sure I accessed the cables from the boot.

This shows the cabling more clearly:

Spud, here's how to remove the firewall carpet:

My god i would have blown every fuse in the car doing that! :o

It's not anywhere near as daunting as you think, the cabling is quite straightforward and the connections are fully explained on the Intravee website. The images I've posted include extra Alpine equipment to allow the addition of a CD changer and DAB.

Carpet removal is more involved than working from the inside. I take the console apart in 10 minutes to get to the cables and you need the console apart anyway if you want to mount the Intravee in the car in the cubby where the CD changer would be (not in your case dgm).

A PVR has also said, easier to remove carpet in the boot on a coupe. this is the only advantage the coupe has over the roadster on all counts.

Also as said 10 minutes is all it takes to remove the centre console section required.

 pure roadster banter gold!

It actually only takes 2 minutes to remove enough of the firewall carpet to gain access to the wires on the coupe, it doesn't need to be totally removed. Just unfasten it from the right hand side and push it out of the way to the left hand side. This isn't illustrated in the images I posted but there is no need to take the whole cover off for a basic Intravee/Alpine KCA-420i installation. Can't speak for the roadster but access is easy via the boot on the coupe. Personally I can't see the advantage in removing part of the centre console on the coupe but I suppose we've all developed our own methods.

Fitted mine last weekend.

I also needed to replace the cd changer blanking container which was a pain.

i would guess a couple hours at most. I'll add a few pics I took as I did it.
