Internet.Where would we be without it?

Where would we be without it?
I would rather be without tv than be without the internet.There is nothing but s*** on the tv anyway even if you have sky :lol:
God knows when it happened,but for sure we would be lost without it.Us lot on this forum would not be here for a start.
I bet most of us spend more time on the net than we do hooning and having some real fun in the zed?
We can chat to our fellow forum members from all over the world.
Even though they are having better weather than us in the uk :thumbsdown:

Last year I was without a connection at home for two week, it was hell I tell you :D

The year I graduated, having learnt everything I did from real paper books. Got an email account for the first time, then two years later a tissue box sized mobile phone. Remember being horrified the first time someone texted me instead of phoning :o

Had a much slower paced life in those days *sigh*

Sometimes I feel like despeccing my life and getting rid of the mobile altogether. Back then, Angry Birds meant a very different thing :!:
 
I was only thinking that last evening when watching that programme on BBC2 about how people celebrated Christmas 1944. Although the war still going on they didn't really know what was happening in the wider world. Both newspaper coverage and radio coverage were heavily censored and it made me think what would have happened to the 'bulldog spirit' if they had been aware of the truth earlier in the war if the Internet had been available then.
 
It is scary how dependent i am on the internet. I was round the out laws last night. I was on my phone on hear!! To be fair it didn't play such a big part in my life till i got a zed and was addicted to this web site!!

For those of us that grew up without the internet. We could manage just fine. I don't even know where my prepay Voda phone is. And You know what. I don't miss it. I love meeting new people face to face. Mind you. I love my internet. But I know how to shut it off and then go out and have some fun with my wife or our friends.

I personally think the net has made us as a society a slave to the office 24/7. Which I don't think is good. And for those that grew up with the net. I have never met a more electronically socially connected yet publicly unsocial group as the young internet generation are these days. My wife works with a lot of young military troops in her office. When they come into or leave the office. None of them will even say hi, bye, Or even drop dead. They have hardly any face to face personal communication skills at all. And as the internet lends it self to anonymously posted vile crap talk. They also don't know how to be polite or not drop an F bomb every few seconds. The kids these days seem to prefer to stay at home with their tech. And if they do go outside. They generally will have ear buds on and try and avoid most social contact.
