Intermittent roof issues

My roof frequently doesn't full close or open. If I push the button again it completes the travel fully. Is this a sign of a failing motor?

Yep, That sounds about right.
The sooner you tackle it the better and the more chance you have of your existing motor surviving longer term.

There are a number of members who will help with it and also relocate it into the boot where it stays dry and is easily servicaible.

Find out who is nearest to you and drop them a PM.

There is;
Dietcokeman (Bucks)
Bowser (Hants)
Dave (Durham) (PM via CherryM)
Number5 (Bristol)
Tug (Kent?)
...and maybe another 1 or 2 I've missed off !

Can anyone please help me!!? I have a 2006 BMW Z4 3.0si, and I read a whole ton of forums on this, but I was thinking if someone knows exactly what the problem is and pinpoint me to the right direction. I got into my car yesterday, and as I was trying to close the roof it kind of started to glitch in the middle of closing and stopped. Then I restarted by pressing to open again and then close, then it just got stuck. So I checked the shelves to see if they are lowered cause maybe it is the microswitch that is defective. But it isn't the microswitch, because if it was defective then the electronic interlocks would've not closed the roof to the windshield. Manually it goes up and down, but when I put the red tab into place and try to make the hydraulic motor work again, it makes noise but doesn't do anything with the roof. And the light on the console buttons are blinking .. so I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO!! Please help me, I'm out of resources. And I don't want to go to the dealership as I am currently broke, and I am a handy man guy that I can try fixing it myself. Please can someone help! :headbang:

Hi bmwz4dude and welcome to the forum.

My earlier post above applies really. Someone will be willing to help you depending on where you are based.

However, the members on here traditionally like a bit of an introductory post with a few details about your Zed and will be nagging you before long !!

I'm still new to the forum stuff, so I don't exactly know how to make a forum on based where I am. (Richland, WA)

The roof is fairly new, but I have the receipts from the dealership from when the roof was changed and possibly put in a new motor. (Receipts from the owner that I bought it from)

But I literally tried everything, and read literally every forum I bet

Hi Dude, with receipts for recent roof work id go back to the dealer that carried the work out. They must guarantee their work?

How old are the receipts though?

If it was done by BMW then any dealer should help. They should in the UK and would assume the same in th USA.

Receipt is from 10/03/16, so about 2 months ago.. I have the receipts of the new convertible top, motor, parts..etc. so should I call bmw and see if they can do something about it, even though that car was under another owners name at that time? Because he filed a claim and paid a deductible of $300 and they covered the rest $1800

Why wouldn't you? The worst they could say is no!
