Bit of an odd one this!
March 2003 build date E85 2.5i Auto. For much of the time I've owned the car the rear parking sensors didn't work (you get the long error beep putting it into reverse). Mechanic fixed it at Christmas time (one sensor was unplugged) but it only worked for a couple of days.
Gave up with it and just left it, but occasionally they would randomly spring into life again (but this was rare twice maybe in 6 months). I charged the battery up recently (which is only circa 6 months old) with a Noca smart charger, as the car had only been on short journeys for several months (due to a couple of quite bad oil leaks, now fixed).
The next day after an overnight charge, the parking sensors were alive again for the first time in months. Two weeks later (car in use 3/4 times a week) they died again. I thought hang on, let me try charging the battery and low and behold they start working again!
I've also noticed that sometimes (but not always) around the same time the parking sensors stop working, the automatic window drop when you open the door will stop working too, but this is only ever on the passenger side window (I know the very simple reset procedure).
The previous owner also locked the car by the door only and not on the remote, as he had problems with the alarm going off occasionally at random. Again, a recently charged battery seems to fix this.
Any clues as to why this keeps happening, or is the e85 just a car that needs regular battery charges? When the parking sensors / window auto drop goes wrong, the car doesn't fail or struggle to start (as if the battery is flat).
I did (though this was a one off) also have an airbag light recently. With a Creator C110 tool I was able to clear this, but only after I had charged the battery, the fault would not clear prior to a charge (error messages below).
Any help would be appreciated!
