Just watched this and found it interesting, Skoda Yeti fitted with winter tyres front wheel drive vs the same model but 4x4 and without winter tyres.

Excepting the obvious traction advantage from standstill, the winter tyre shod yeti out performs the 4x4 variant completely, with the brake test being the most convincing reason for fitting winter tyres I have seen

Few years back i had a lexus Is300 sportcross , snow came & it wouldnt move 3 feet forward , week later i had 4 winters fitted & when it snowed again the car drove around like it had 3 wheel drive , i was really surprised & impressed with the difference .
Since then have always had a set on main car & van before winter arrives . The Z would be pointless as it doesn;t like going out in the cold
Usually pick them up part worn on ebay through summer  like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271143801953?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
have you fitted them to the merc sars ?

Will later this year, though its much better in snow than the zed was on summer tyres, fitted them to the zed though and would whole heartadly recommend them

Agree . not just for the snow , they really grip on frosty mornings & in rainy conditions . Tramming down the motorways in torrential rain they really earn their money .
