Thanks again Phondar, do you have a model numder for this, I've check it out & it's like applicable for all E89 series.
Is this the one Performance Intercooler Kit EVO1 for BMW E82-E93 ?

Many thanks again

Where does the part in the bottom pic go?
Is that a decat?

Aha..I’m so relieved that someone reads my posts.. :tumbleweed:

Not quite sure what happened when I did the cut n paste of the piccies..

For some reason I couldn’t delete Pico’s picture..weird....

Yes Pico likes to de-cat given a chance

Nice set of items, do you have a list of Parts and suppliers. Turbo an aftermarket stage 2? For example.

Might relight my fire 🔥 😋

Sounds epic... I’ve got my doubts if any of it is lighting my 🔥 having reached your comments... you sounded a bit underwhelmed 😟

“the benefit of hindsight not worth it for me..the previous version was the best cost/drivability/performance compromise...”

I like the effort though. I did a similar thing back in 2003 going from 196 to nigh on 300bhp. It was worth it IMO as is yours but don’t think it’s for me as already at 245.. 🤷‍♂️

As always there are two threads...’the cost effective solution’ and the ‘whatever it takes/ cause I can’...

If you are in the cost effective solution a re-map and rolling road to 265-280bhp / 400-430nm is the way to go...

In UK climate and roads that’s all you need..

I spent a lot more to get another 20-30bhp / 25-75nm...de-cat, big turbo, dyno time etc etc

If you just want / need more raw bhp then a 35i with a re-map is the way to go if you haven’t already bought a Zed..

I am lucky that I had the time / headspace / money to entertain excursions like serious audio upgrades and engine tweaking not to mention brakes and chassis..

I’m very pleased with the results but I have spent a lot of money...but then I don’t have any other ‘toys’ these days, don’t/can’t chase women and exotic holidays don’t float my boat..so it’s one of my simple pleasures...

It’s a fantastic car and all the mods are tasteful.

Always a pleasure looking at someone’s project when they dedicate so much time, money and effort. Inspires others for sure 👍

Thank you...as a proud owner love is blind...nice to know other people can appreciate the work and style...not everyone’s bag..but why buy a Zed if you are not a poseur at heart... :driving:

Have a look on Ali Express that’s where I got the one for my 35i, great quality and considerably cheaper.

The guys that did my work on tuning were very derogatory about the Chinese copies...they said the flow rates were poor..bad / cheap internal design..

They don’t sell intercoolers but fit many...they do about 10-15 tunes a week...

Maybe for a 35i you’re making enough power to start with..

It’s an opinion from some guys who do a lot of quality work...

Hi Stuard,
If it was Taiwan made instead of China then I wouldn't cringe. Phonbar is right, since we're heading to increase power & reliability why skimped at the wrong stuff. At my end it's in the tropics so always hot hence the need to keep temp down for reliabilty regardless of power.

Guess the next step for Phondar might be engine internal ungrade ? Btw forgot where I read it from, seems like there's a slight larger turbo replacement that promises even faster spool up & bigger power to me it sound contradictory but who knows. lol

Thanks again Gents

I've tried both the AliExpress 5" stepped one and a higher quality 5" non stepped BMS intercooler and there's no comparison. The AliExpress intercooler was a pig to fit and the build quality was way worse. The BMS intercooler is non stepped so smaller but it's actually more efficient due to a more dense core and better internal design.

The AliExpress intercooler was an upgrade over the stock one and did the job but the BMS one only cost about £80 more and is a much better unit.

For a hot country I would consider going for a larger 7" intercooler but I'm not sure what options the N20 has.
