Insurance rant!!

Well, my 17 yr old daughter passed her driving test the other week so we're looking for insurance, found a reasonable premium from a company called Diamonds adding her to a new swmbo policy, it's astronomical if she were to insure her Mercedes A class as our daughters own car so figured we'd get her a years driving under her belt, anyway swmbo called her current insurers, Swinton, to cancel the policy and take up the Diamonds one and Swinton want nearly £200 to cancel the policy :headbang:

It's due for renewal in July btw :wkr:

Can I just check that this is an actual cancellation charge or that they won't refund the full premium paid?

If the former, then I'd ask them to point out the specific reference to the cancellation charge in the T&Cs!

We'll have a look into that, I'm all for giving them the money and moving on, there's always small print, happy to take, hate to give back.

I'd go straight to the CEO/ Executive office and kick off!

Do your worse.... Works for me every time I'm not happy, straight to the top dog.

I had a similar thing with RAC. Because I'd made a claim, they wouldn't refund a penny.

The claim? Oh. A windscreen chip repair. Now on my list of "never deal with again" companies.

They are scum.

Going through a similar issue with my old insurance company.

Thankfully the cancellation was only £50 but I'm still waiting for my £200 refund over 40 days since the policy was cancelled.

Cancelled my Swinton policy back in august ,paind £25 or £30 only .They where happy to insure my 276bhp audi tt for ~£400, but for less powerful 2.5 Z4 asked extra £1200

Not suprised, they might have seen that drift!!!! (nice one tho   )

Weren't Diamond Insurance specifically set up to cater for the fairer sex? Perhaps with this insurance equality business they are now able to insure blokes.

I believe this is now the case - I think they have to insure men - I phoned Admiral but the paper work came through as Diamond .

There is a lot of small print on a lot of the cheaper insurance company deals - Like having to go to one of their approved repairers. I seem to remember that they dont have to use manufactures parts???

Let the buyer beware!
