Insurance Question

Hi all,

Probably a thick question but haven't done this before :)

I'm looking to replace my Z3 and pretty much set on the new Hyundai i10 for Sept delivery. Called the dealer who can't give me a firm delivery date so had a look on the Hyundai forums and appears deliveries are taking 12 to 16 weeks :x so know wonder the dealer wouldn't say. This means I would need to order in June sometime

Anyways if I sold the Z3 privately rather than trading in how do I stand on the insurance policy if I sold it say over the next month or so. Can I just carry on the policy until I take delivery of the new motor in Sept and transfer it over?

Many thanks,

Tim.

Check with your insurer, you can normally suspend your policy but the length of time varies, with Direct Line it was 30 days for me. Or just cancel it and get a refund, less the usual admin fee no doubt.

Cheers for that, I was just curious if you need to inform your insurer by law if you're no longer the registered keeper, I'm guessing yes. I was thinking if say I sold the car and the new owner insured it but then got into bother with say the police, would it show the car to be insured twice lol.

Tim.
