Ok folks - it was discussed a while back, but I wasnt sure if it would be of any value.

Do you think it would be useful to have a list of mod "friendly" insurers, and the extent of their friendliness? Would be helpful for those thinking about a mod, and worried what their insurance company might think.

E.g. I told direct line about my wheels, interior etc. They noted it, but the premium wasnt affected. Their view was that the parts are OEM, so it's no problem.

i told admiral of all my mods and they didnt change premium. Endsleigh added £50 to my better halfs policy for her mods!

I also found Admiral very helpful about mods, although they (unhelpfully) also wanted all optional extras to be disclosed, which meant obtaining a build sheet for each car and a list of the standard equipment for the particular model. They were very competitively priced when I took out the insurance but hiked their rates up considerably at the end of year one...

I've declared lots... but can't be 100% sure everything has been declared. E.g. my ZHP, don't think I ever mentioned that.

My wheels, interior etc have been declared, but no premium increase

Personally whether it be right or wrong I would only declare performance mods as I don't want to come across being a "higher risk" driver anymore than I need to.

Being 21 I struggled to get a realistic insurance quote and don't want to be in a situation where I can insure the car next year.

That said, the idea of a list to display those companies who are mod friendly would be more than welcomed!
