Instrument panel stain

Hello,

I have a detailing question.. I have a almost new Z4, and the only cosmetic thing wrong that bothers me is the instrument cluster, the clear plastic has a water stain. I researched that that the clear plastic is not interchangeable, I will need to buy the whole cluster unit... I tried cleaning with a micro fiber damp rag, but did not clean it off. Is there a product that will target this stain, that is not abrasive? I thought the stain was from the inside, but the dealer insists its on the outside... I appreciate any feedback...

This might just do the trick!

Hi,

After I read your post, My instrument panel has a small, sounds like same stain in plastic, I tried the Megs 2-step cleaner and polish and still there! without seeing yours, I would bet it is under the plastic like mine!! So I will live with it, I would like to know how the heck a spot could come from behind-- unless the prior owners were idiots and sprayed way 2-much something on them

Good luck let me know if you get a deal on a new cluster, 650 sounds like a stealer price to me :poke:

If you ask real nice, Black Sapphire Z might post his DIY for taking the cluster apart. I used his instructions and cleaned the previous owner's latte out of my cluster.

I would like to take mine apart, does anybody have Black Sapphire Z contact info? I could not find him on the member list?
Any help? Does anybody have the instructions to do the take apart of the instrument cluster to clean the plastic?

Thanks for any help!

Bob
