Inspection 2 - When things go badly wrong..

And this, ladies and gentlemen is precisely the reason that I decided at the start of the year to sell my M Coupe. Couldn't handle the premium price versus crap service dilemma ... And summed up perfectly with the statement that BMW UK will fob you off too. Only way to resolve this in my view is to do what I did and vote with your feet. I'll never own another BMW because of this. Loved all the M's I owned (2 E46 M3's, 2 E92 M3's and the Z4M Coupe) but service has deteriorated immensely in the time that I've owned BMW's to the point that its really quite laughable these days.

Good luck to anyone trying to recieve decent service from the dealerships. I gave up and won't be trying them again ...

I have little faith in Dealer and any good garage will service any car, I fine you get better service and confidence in someone you can trust and know.

Re MOT last year, took it into the Dealer got it back with a damaged bumper, took it this year to my local MOT station and he couldn't have been more careful. To the Dealer your's is just another car they sell 60K plus cars

Never heard of independents then? :?

Car was still under warranty and while I know block exemption means it shouldn't matter, I wouldn't want to sell a relatively new car without a dealer service history :(

I've always had good dealer service

Never 'great' .. but I don't think you did too badly getting a loan car immediately when it was after hours.. I'd have been left to calling Assist I would think.

+ there are some really good ones. Makes the experience so much better when you see loads of M's and 911's stripped and then get a smaller bill then expected. :)

it happened to me once - not on the Zed - and it wasnt a dealer, it was all my own work.

After spending an afternoon serivicing and generally tidying up the engine bay of a merceded, I topped off the oil and headed off down the motorway .........
errrrrrrr forgot to tighten the oil filler cap ...... oil everywhere, smole, the works ............

cant see a failed gasket dumping 1.5 lts of oil - but then I cant see a dealer admiting negligence either - best to blame a part.

good to hear its sorted

Update.. So after discussing with the service manager they agreed the following:

Steam Clean engine bay and under trays, full valet, tank full of petrol and a good will gesture of 3 hrs labour £400.

I picked the car up yesterday and carefully checked everything was in perfect condition. The car looked amazing and had quite a few comments from other customers at the dealers saying how great it looked.

So all in all... BMW have made a very unhappy customer into a reasionably happy one.
