Inspection 1 and 2 costs

All, could you give me an indicative price I should be paying a main dealer for both an inspection 1 and an inspection 2 service. I am going to ring around the main dealers ion Newcastle area tomorrow but interested to get a bench mark price.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

I bought an AUC car so understand need to have it serviced at maindealer
Its a 2007 z4 Coupe SI
 
I paid £317 for inspection 2 6 months ago @ BMW Irvine. They prices matched a indy in Glasgow.Don't ask you don't get !
 
All just agreed a price for inspection 1 of £170 with Lloyd BMW Newcastle with my supplying 6.5 litres of oil
Stratstone Newcastle wanted £309 for an inspection 1 . Lloyd wanted £340 insp 2 and stratstone £440

Just need to find the cheapest place to by oil now advice appreciated , and thanks for you comments so far on this and another thread
 
i paid 329 for inspection 2 at cooper,,,,, stratstone wanted 490 how can they justify a difference of 170....... best bit was they offered to price match coopers if i got a written quote jezz
 
Seems a decent price, was £200 for an Inspection 1 at Peter Vardy Edinburgh for my 3.0si roadster, included fitting a pair of tyres and I supplied my own oil - £55 from Euro Car Parts and would have been £100+ from BMW.
 
Thanks for the feedback re the oil does it really matter if I use castrol or the valve line equivalent . The price for the castrol seems good when I compare to opie.
 
Hi Just thought I would update this thread, ive just had an Inspection 2 at my local BMW garage - Woods in Bournemouth and they charged me £480 inc VAT for my 3.0i

It was the cars first inspection 2 @ 56,000 miles.

They will do an inspection 1 for £165 inc VAT.
 
When I turn my car on it says it has an inspection due soon. How do I know if it's inspection 1 or 2 that it needs? Car has 61,000 miles. Thanks!

If it says 'Inspection', it wants an inspection done, the left hand side of the display shows 'Oil Service' for just oil.

The routine is oil, inspection 1, oil, inspection 2 .... repeat. If you have any previous service history you should be able to work it out. I'm guessing here, but 50k onwards is probably about right for inspection 2.

Inspection 2 details are in the service book, or quite easy to find with google. Am sure it's on this forum as well somewhere.

It's not massively expensive for an inspection II on a non M. About £400-450from a dealer less the age related discounts they offer

I wouldn't use Woods personally. Either Scothall BMW, or Bartleys or Kartechnic indie.
 
Hi dan what's your reason for not using woods? It was the first time I have used them and didn't have an issue but depending on your experience I might think twice about going back for the oil service.

Well, personally I've never used them, and I'm sure they're able to change oil without issue!

It's just I've only ever heard bad things about them. Was in there last weekend with a friend who's looking to buy a new 7 Series. They were just not interested. Another friend has an E61 M5 Touring and they weren't willing to work on it. Scothall bent over backwards to help diagnose warranty issues, even though it was 20 miles away, he always took it there. He didn't trust Woods.

Quite a few of my friend avoid them. I think they're only interested in sellings Minis and BMWs to the rich people in Sandbanks!

My dad doesn't rate them either, despite living down the road, he always uses Scothall.
 
If its a inspection 2 you need phone around and get some prices, I paid £315 for inspection 2 3.0si. You should get the 4 years or older discount.
