had inspection 2 done today £295 all in, not bad i suppose. i have the wiper parking problem and mentioned it to the indy who did the inspection, he said the motor would need replacing, £395 all in supply & fit!! think i might try cleaning the contacts first see if that helps.

the whole mechanism can be bought from quarry motors which includes the motor for 100 quid. Infact if its just the motor you want I think I have one from when I replaced the entire arm. On mine one of the linkages broke of from lack of grease, the same happened on my E36. If I remember correctly it took me about an hour to remove the whole thing and put the new one back. Both of the old complete arms with working motors are in my parents garage... thing is I would need to see a pic of the Z4 one to know which is which haha

heres a pic :D i'm in Hamble,nr Southampton. i know a mechanic who i've used several times for the odd jobs, not on the Z but other cars, he does it in his spare time so i might give him a ring, if it isn't the grease on the contacts then i will be interested in the replacement motor.

lift the bonnet and look just below where the wipers are and there's a black plastic cover held in place with some clips, there's also a rubber seal which needs to come off. the wiper arms have to be removed as well, iv'e not done this yet so don't know how easy or difficult it is.

Does it need replacing because the wipers are not parking correctly? If so then the motor is probably ok and its dirt on the contracts within it. If you search the forum there is a good DIY article about how to do it.

where abouts is the wiper mechanism and how do you get to it mine squeeks?

That's probably just the pivot points on the wiper arms, a common problem.

I just followed the guide on hear done by sk93. My wipers where not stooping at the correct place and doing double sweeps and other weird things. Followed the guide witch is very good. And it has fixed the problem completly. Its worth a try its going to cost you nothing but a bit of time. I highly recommended it

i'm going to have a look when i'm not working and it's not raining, rare combination for me, will post results. :D
