INPA not clearing 5E30 error code

Any INPA veterans out there, would appreciate your wisdom please

I have the trifecta of TC, Tyre Pressure, and Handbrake showing on my dash. They remained after I had the the ABS Pump refurbed, so I picked up an ODB Cable/INPA and discovered it's error code 5E30 (which I believe points to the ABS/Yaw/DSC Sensor control unit under the passenger seat).

The path to fix that is relatively clear (find part & replace, and there's plenty of info on here on how to go about that), but my issue is that in the interim I'm going for my NCT (Irish MOT), and I can't get the lights to go out. INPA reads the error memory, gives the option to clear it (which I do, and get the confirmation message), but the error either doesn't clear, or returns instantaneously. The lights remain constant, and the error is immediately picked up again by INPA.

Obviously clearing the error memory isn't supposed to fix the underlying issue, but I did expect some respite (if just 20-30 mins to get me through the test) before it would return.

So now I'm curious - is there some user error on my behalf, or is this particular code such that it cannot be cleared?

Am I missing something?
If the car is telling you the unit is duff and you haven't changed it, then I think you're being quite optimistic if you expect the unit to forget it's duff and stop telling the car.

Agree with enuff-zed. If the module is faulty it will instantly through the fault again, have you tried checking the wiring connections?

Thanks folks, optimism is all I've got!

I should have been a bit clearer and mentioned that the lights have been intermittent, usually turning off after car has been sat up for a week or so, then they return whilst driving. I've not noticed a particular behaviour that triggers them (i.e. under hard acceleration, or across uneven surfaces), but it's usually around 20 minutes into a journey. It gave me the impression that there wasn't a continuous communication from the unit to the ECU calling out the fault, although that's not to say that isn't the case now.

It had also been cleared previously by my mechanic (prior to pump refurb), and stayed away for some time, which reinforced my expectation that I could do similar with the right tools.

Most likely explanation is that at a point in time it was an intermittent issue, which has now become a constant one, I just wanted to rule out an error on my end.

Either way, the unit needs replacing, that much is clear, I'll just need to up my efforts for a replacement ahead of the NCT.

Next step will be to get the seat out and see what everything looks like over there. Hopefully I don't uncover a surprise water feature....
