Hi, not been here much in the last couple of years, if not longer, but I have a question. My 2.0 roadster has had lots of TLC over the last few years, spec's with lots of M bits, including the suspension, from new, I've slowly but surely getting her ready for the next 100,000 miles. After spending last year getting the suspension and springs sorted, timing chain replaced, vanos overhauling, rocker cover replaced etc she is running beautifully, A full respray with genuine BMW wings on all four corners, new windscreen, and a full rust preservation are all on the calendar for next year. But, and here is the question, has anyone on here swapped a BMW engine to one of another manufacturer? I can hear the sharp intakes of breath as well as the outrage of moving away from Bavarian engineering but, I love my e85 primarily for the way it looks, feels, and drives, not because of the badge. Coming from Fireblade and GSXR's, I've done the high speed stuff. Been faster than many but the roads are just too full of idiots, and cyclists to facilitate top end speeds. I always the thrill of, late breaking and powering out of bends, but I do love high revving engines and the scream.
I'm looking at the possibility of fitting a Honda Type R engine to my e85. I realise that the chances of coming across someone who's already done this are microscopic, but has anyone changed from Beemer to something else?
