Induction

I’ve decided to buy a Ramair cone filter. Been looking at this for a while. I know some say the standard box is a decent design and works well. Honestly, I love the noise of an induction kit. So I’m tinkering with some aluminium I had lying around to try and make a heat shield to hopefully keep the hot stuff away from the filter. Has anyone else done this? If so, does it help? Below is my first attempt.

You’re probably better off keeping the oem airbox & the smooth fuelling it provides and installing the sound generator components for the noise you want

I played around with the idea of doing this - would be interested if you updated this thread with your progress!

As smartbear said, OEM box is very good so I ended up just keeping it. I tried an open pod filter and it hardly made any difference in sound but it would have been lacking any sides to reverb off - which is why intakes that are enclosed with an open end sound "better" (KN apollo i had in my old Astra 2.2 sounded EPIC).
