Induction pipe

Hello! (Sorry for my three threads this is the last one promise)

When my friend was repairing my bonnet release cable (it failed and needed replacing all done now) he noticed the rubber part on the induction intake (if I remember correctly what he said) is torn which is very bad for performance. We've temporarily taped it up but he advised me to buy a new one ASAP. Here's a photo of the rubber bit I'm talking about:

I'm trying to find the best one to buy, was advised it would cost ~£50. Is this the one I should buy?

I dont think that induction kit will replace the part thats knackered as its the other side of the jubilee clip.

Think you will need to get from BMW

Thanks for help, do you know which part I need to order exactly? I have a phone number someone gave me on this forum to order over the phone but I'm not exactly sure what I should be asking for

Don't know if you're pointing to the upper or lower rubber boot/tube/pipe, so here's the diagram with both on.

It looks like hes after part no.5 to me ?

Part 5 looks like it yes, thanks for the pic! Have ordered it from Soper of Lincoln, only £20 or so. Thanks again!

I've been getting bank 1 and 2 too lean codes, and just noticed that mine is broken too in the same place. About half of it is attached.

What is the small pipe for? Because I imagine the bulk of the air goes through the big bit at the bottom.

Gonna pick one up tomorrow and get it changed, reset the engine warning light and hopefully it'll be ok again :)

This explanation isn't going to be exactly right, but I was told that it carries something through it (air). It's measured one end and then the engine reacts on the amount of air reported, if its leaking it will be acting on wrong information so your cars performance will suffer.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong! (Sure I am!)

I had honestly thought my car wasn't as powerful as it was before, felt sluggish. After a good taping up though it was noticeably better. If it's leaking I'd definitely replace it!
