Impressive MPG

Just touring around the UK, started in Cornwall, up to Malvern, on to York and now in Keswick for a drive around the lakes. At home I get a steady 26-28mpg going to work & short trips, so far on three top ups ( brim to brim) I'm averaging 36 - 38 mpg
Well impressed with that for a 3 litre engine and not going particularly slowly!
Double checked the figures at first as I thought I'd made a mistake.

I find short trips i.e. before engine warms up the mpg is very low. longer constant trips pushing more mpg

Im in the peak district so going off the flat A6 will also eat into the mpg. If you tour at around 40 and 50 and keep moving yes mpg can get into the late 30's in my old 3.0.

my 2.8 I can get a bit higher im pushing easy 35 when the 3.0 was 27 to 31 at the best.

Just finished a Aberdeen to Birmingham 450 mile run with the top up in a 3.0i. Computer is saying 42.1mpg! Ran on fumes for the last 10 miles. Nerve wracking stuff searching for a station!

Just done Keswick to Redruth (440 miles) & until I hit Cornwall was averaging 41.4mpg, dropped to 38.9 for the last 50 miles, and I was worried I'd bought a gas guzzler!! Ha ha
