Had my 2010 35i for a couple of weeks now and covered over 1200 miles of mixed roads, here are my first impressions....
This is certainly a different car to the Coupe, it is much more relaxed and comfy but faster, I find myself driving it slower
, not sure if that because it’s a new toy ? The ride is streets ahead of the Coupe (that had M Suspension though) even though I had swapped out the RFT’s on that, this is far better at taking bumps but the RFT’s will still be caught out on mid corner bumps as they lack the compliancy. Handling wise it feels secure even with the extra weight.
I love the gearbox but still do not see the need for 7 gears as when swapping in manual mode I always seem to be in the wrong gear, is it 3rd or 4th for overtaking now ??
and a 7th gear that goes from 45 to 155 but has the engine running at over 2,000 rpm at 70mph seems a waste of a 7 speed box? Also it can sometimes be caught out on the fast changes from reverse to 1st and vice versa.
The roof is excellent and I have it down as long as the rain holds off and the heater is great but the stereo is poor and I will be looking at adding the tweeters, it seems to lack mid range to me?
Engine is awesome, the power delivery is smooth and relentless, you can really feel the difference as the bigger turbo spools up (from about 4,000rpm?) the acceleration seems to increase at an alarming rate ! Over the last couple of days on a lazy drive up the M1 & M6 I’m seeing an easy 32mpg which I did not seem to be able to achieve with the 3.0si
Niggles, only one I see so far is on a cold start the engine will rev at about 1,000rpm for about 5 seconds and bearing in mind the bark of the exhaust on start up (is this standard!?!) this can upset the neighbours at 5:30am ! Changing gears with the roof down gives a great bark between changes like there is an exhaust flap that opens just to create this noise. However after a spirited B road blast the brakes faded
which was a real surprise (considering the dinner plate sized front discs) and they took a minute to come back something that I find alarming on a car of this performance and not something that the Coupe suffered even with stock pads, needless to say the MPG went though the floor
Comfort access is good but I think a bit laggy when locking the car and also I’d rename it discomfort access as I can never find my key now
! I have also swapped out the yellow angel eyes for the MTEC 4800k which look much better.
All in all the above are very minor, the car is great and I love.

It will be cheaper to put a full new set of Falkens or Vredestein's and one new alloy.
