Import prices

Can having an imported Z4 M Coupe make the price this low? This seems like a cracking deal, nice mileage, nice looking car, what’s the catch other than the import side of things.

For clarity, this isn’t my car, I do t know the car.

I would say that's not far off market price. Mine was a only a little more than that for slightly less mileage (72k) and not imported. Maybe it would be £15k as a UK car? There is no way to check its previous history, it might have been accident damaged in South Africa, so you are taking a small risk on that sort of thing.

I could be wrong but does the import marker not affect insurance and tax?

Otherwise, I think there are modifications done to cope with temperature variations for the intended original market. I'm sure it's all easily sortable, but I suspect it's just a bit of faff which puts a few buyers off.

To me that's still jolly good value for someone though, although I can't quite decide if the values of Z4M's for sale at the moment are just wildly speculative, or if the cars are actually selling for anything close to the advertised prices!

Tax can be a funny one, my old Celica GT4 import was something like 350 quid which seemed pretty good!
Insurance wise, its a bygone myth that imports are much more to insure, you can insure them no problem and price is on par with locally sold cars.

UK cars tend to be the cheapest anyway but generally imports are sought after because they tend to be in better condition underbody rust etc

The thing with all the cars for sale is they have been for sale for aaaaggggeeesss non of them are particularly stand out from spec or milage. The cars that look good are cars that have been for sale before with other companies and have discussed issues.

There is a lovely one for sale that is the twin of mine imola on imola. Low milage like new and there were only 4 brought to the UK. Problem is its history is poor and has sat for sale for months and is over coupe money but is super low milage.

Simons imola roady was an import press car and was one of the low tax rate Ms half the price as usual.

Two things:
1. The Z4M market (like the rest of the market) is absolutely on its arse at the moment, so not surprising to see prices so low and cars hanging around on sale.
2. Imports can be tricky and/or expensive to insure, which might put some folk off.

Am I correct in thinking that RFL is much cheaper for imported vehicles?
Not sure it would be that much more to insure but this would surely be offset by lower tax?

The guy also doesn’t reply to inquiries… :D So maybe that’s why it hasn’t sold!

He is unable to respond to email inquiries, responds to telephone calls. Seller has owned since 2012, so good history. Shipping it to the UK too, obviously a car enthusiast in my opinion.

I've seen that advert and I suppose if you can live with a lack of MOT and Cat marker history it's pretty cheap.

If being an import means you avoid the £695 (soon to be over £700) that's a bonus. It isn't far from me, but I really wouldn't want all that black - and I've already got one!

It’s already £735 for a Z4M…and will go up to £760 in April

Only £255 for the dirtier oil burner though

Cat marker? Did I miss something? Has it had a knock?

I like the black! I don’t mind a chilled interior.

Anyone know how much the tax is on an import?

I'm out of touch, I renewed mine in March 2024 so it was "only" £695.

I'll renew in March for £735 to avoid paying £760, until next year anyway!
