I'm going to "do" my wheels, which colour

Ok, I’ve got a bit of kerb rash on one of my wheels and a tire monkey has just damaged at least one of them putting a tire on. So I’m thinking I’d like to change the wheel colour to matt black, smoked grey, Anthracite or glossy black.
Not sure which to do, to give you an idea here’s a pic of my car. Gonna go down the DIY route too.

What do you think?

What, with rattle cans from Halfords? You're a braver man than me, I'd just get them refurbed properly and leave them silver, not a fan of black rims.

I've got a proper gun and a few other bits and bobs

As someone not afraid to strip wheels and refurb them myself I have to say that unless you are feeling competent and can get access to proper spray equipment, prepared to clean them, sort any graze, spray a couple of coats and lacquer, then leave them alone or get a pro to do it.

As for colour, unless you intend to go for some sort of co-ordinated theme then probably stay OEM colour

Think they would look good in anthracite/dark grey. But I'd have them done professionally.

I'd like to change the colour of my wheels. Thinking black or even gold :o But, I have a spare set that I was gonna get done this winter and fit new tyres to rears at the same time.

I too have been toying around with changing the colour of my wheels, have been looking around and see lots of cars with a black and silver outer combo - so far it's only looked appealing on a gt3, so won't try that combo on mine just in case it looks naff.

Have decided on a smokey gray colour - car is carbon black so hopefully the two go well.

Only time will tell if the combo works - if not , worst case scenario is i end up frantically scratching the colouring off in frustation.... lol

Different type of car but this is how those wheels look powder coated in semi gloss black. I would have the job done professionally. Refinishing wheels is not easy.

I love the look of anthracite wheels, especially on dark cars. Get it done by someone properly, though.

Same here.
Anthracite gives a perfect total look.

Shiny chrome looks also nice, but only on a car from someone else, who lives in the USA and only when you are there for holliday...

Please god, tell me you are not going to paint my old wheels GOLD. I wish I'd never sold them to you. :P :P :P

I would go with grey or anthracite. Really like the look of wheels in that colour.

Mmm matt grey, but I would echo the others and get them powdercoated or refurbed rather than trying to do it with cans.

Please don’t try and do this wheel re paint yourself. Your wheels need to be properly painted and protected to ensure they survive the rigours of the road and in particular brake dust. Brake dust is highly corrosive. The pads contain carbon fibres, metal filings, and an adhesive. The adhesive is the real problem. Brake adhesive is acidic, and adheres to the metal filings. The metal filings are red hot, and will burn right through the wheel coating if not properly protected!
