I went looking in bike shops today for the second time and again came away frustrated. I don't really know what I want and I'm hardly the build to fit into Lycra (at least not without a lot of squeezing and a great deal of laughing from the audience) so two wheels, pedals and enough gears that I don't die of asthma on hills would do me nicely. I used to have a Specialized Rockhopper which I gave to my son to use at uni as it was old and tatty and I wasn't riding it. It was returned in pieces.
So after giving up in frustration I came home and took another look at it and went online to check out parts. It's now considered "retro vintage" and "a classic". Are retro bikes even a thing? Does this make me classic? I know if I went back to Taekwondo and competed I'd be a "senior" and would be point stop sparring again like the kids. God I'm feeling old and depressed. The only thing that cheered me up was roof down hooning home.
Anyway, I'm going to rebuild my "retro vintage" bike so I can wobble around the lanes in peace.
Penny Farthing anyone?
