Illuminated driver and passenger vent dial or not?

Hello Good people! Took delivery of my new z4 yesterday, first night drive and noticed the driver and passenger vent dials are not illuminated like the centre ones - is this normal or a problem? I know nothing, still learning what this machine of awesome can do!

Same on my F11, noticed it the other night. Seems daft but guess there is a reason.

Thank you - I've just watched a few night-videos on youtuber and it seems that it's "the way it is". No idea why!
