Ignition / immobiliser problem?

This morning I got into my car (parked in a garage) and went to start it as usual. The Radio and heater were on from the night before and the auto headlights. As i turned the key the usual dash lights appeared and disappeared and then the final turn of the key and nothing. No ignition. :?

I tried a number of times but still no turn over. So i tried locking / unlocking which also did nothing. Finally i thought maybe a battery issue? So turned off the radio and heater and low and behold she started! :driving:

Once I got to work I turned the car off and on again with heater both on and off, car started fine.

Anyone ever experienced a similar problem / issue?? wondering if it's all this wet damp weather causing problems?

It really sounds like a battery issue. The lights and blower current draws are not insubstantial. It does seem odd you didn't get anything, but I once killed my battery trying to bleed the N52 cooling system with an inadequate charger and I didn't get anything either. There could be an under voltage system where it won't even let the starter engage unless there is adequate voltage.
