If you had 20K to spend on a car?

Sell the Z, add that to the 20k, so approx 35 ish ?...then save another 5k, get yourself a sharp tailor made made suit, go and buy a Aston V8 Vantage, pretend your James bond, find some tunnels, floor it and listen to that engine roar.

On a more serious note, how about a mitsubishi evo ? i have had some great track days in them. But for 20k im guessing you fancy something a bit more specical ?, (this is getting more random by the minute), sell the Z, get an M Coupe and modify it (within reason) with the spare cash.

TVR t350 
I did the daily commute + weekend toy thing with my Z4M for the first 2 yrs, I've now got a E36 compact for the daily runabout and the M now feels much more special (it felt special before mind you) when I swap it for the Com' on Friday nights.
Mind you, the Compact is getting 2.8'd and LSD'd soon, as I, er... miss the oversteer ! :scratchhead:

Thanks for all the replies it has given food for thought. I've had a chat with petkiller and the super fast mondeo doesnt sound like such a wise buy as i'm not looking to sink thounsands of pounds a year into fixing the darn thing!
I will be keeping the z4 as the daily car as the mpg is really good and it keeps me sane in the week (hell no diesel focus! :lol
I do like the idea of working on a car to make it better not just fixing it all the time so the caterham or westfield with a wide body is nudging forward.

Absolutely love these! There's a bloke who brings his to trackdays at Knockhill quite a lot - large V8 engined. Best sounding car I think I've heard and it always does well against everything else on track (could be the driver of course).Mr Whippy said:

- Caterham with the SV body (that R300 is stunning though)
- Elise
- Exige
- T350c
- M3 CSL
are the things I'd look at if it was me, in order of compormise...
Don't think I could handle a Caterham for too long as the wet weather (roof) pack is a right fiddle to put on/off. Would love one though. Elise is the more practical alternative to a Caterham IMO. Exige more hardcore and bloody difficult to get in and out of for me (6'1). T350c is lovely if you get a good one. M3 CSL perhaps ordinary looking and very practical compared to the rest, but a bloody good car.

I can't wait till my wife and I can finally get a house with a nice sized double garage, then the penny saving/scrimping and bad excuses why an Ultima is a good idea can begin

Doesn't work. I have the double garage and that gives the wife more room to store freezers and second fridge and with the Zed taking one half of the space I have only half a garage left. I have to have a warehouse to keep my other toys in
Don't forget that houses with double garages provide the excuse of 'space' to bring up a family and that's goodbye to toys again for a few years
