iDrive rattle

Anyone cured the rattle behind the idrive.
I have had the speaker cover off and blanking plate, plus removed a couple of screws. But the drive resists removal.
Looks like the air vent grill has to come off.
Anyone succeeded in removing the idrive?
 
If you are referring to the display, you need to remove the long trim covering the Air Con controls, this exposes the two screws retaining the vents. Behind the vents are two further screws retaining the front of the display, along with the two you have already found... Before the long trim can be removed, you need to remove the panel covering the ignition switch.

My display is really noisy on closure, but fine opening. I haven't yet plucked up the courage to pull the dash to pieces :?

If you can wait until tomorrow night I can provide the relevant details/diagrams from ISTA/D.
 
Didn't want to risk damaging trim, so out of frustration sprayed Turtlewax interior trim restorer (seems to have a lot of silicon in it) around the drive and glove compartment trim and surprise all the rattles have gone?
And also doesn't seem a bad product for what its intended. Good around the external window trim too.
