iDrive - Radio...

Hello All,

two questions...

in the iDrive, is there a propper Radio view? where it shows some of the extended RDS information etc.. or is it just case of leaving it on the list of stations?

also - can you retrofit DAB to the idrive?

thanks
Danny

You can't display the RDS info, shame as its nice to be able to see the song playing.
Don't know about DAB, if I want to listen to a non FM/AM I play it via Bluetooth from the phone.

I have DAB, but as I'm in Holland I cannot comment on stations in the UK. DAB is okay here, quality is better than FM but not as many stations. For the RDS info, I actually never looked at that, it displays the station name but don't remember seeing any other info.

I get the station name and track name in the split screen view. Off the top of my head, I think the screen is called 'Entertainment Info'. This is only for DAB though it think. RDS doesn't actually support track name - some stations put it in the 'radio text' field, but it's not consistent.

You can get DAB retrofitted, as I had an email from my dealer the other day advertising it. I already have DAB so not sure why they sent it to me, but here are the details in case you are interested:

my Yeti displays the track info etc on RDS.
£300 notes and you have to use a "handy"remote control - should be "seamlessly integrated" into the iDrive control for that price.
Pin sharp clarity is a bit of a white lie as the bit rate is lower than FM and you often get drop outs in poor reception areas.

Yes, bit of a contradiction isn't it - "Seamless integration", and yet you have a separate control for it.
