Identical damage on both sides, what could cause it?

I noticed an indentation on the fender panel and assumed someone must have leant against it or something like that. Annoying, it happens. Then I noticed there are identical indentations on both sides!

(I think I put the dot too close to the front, the damage is slightly to the left in the photo.)

Any ideas what could possibly cause something like this?

its possible someones lent on both sides, it could be a weaker point which is why its happened in the same place on both sides.

lifting straps from a recovery truck?

No, but good point! Now that you mention it, the two guys that put the wheels on actually held the car up by the wheel well to pull the jack out. It annoyed me at the time, but I didn't notice any damage then, so I guess there is nothing I can do about it now. Would something like that be enough?

held the car up by the wing????? I'd have belted them with the jack.....no wonder you now have several hundred euros worth of bodywork damage. :headbang:

x2.
Bloody Idiots

So it sounds like you guys are in agreement that this could cause the kind of damage I've got?

As I said, it caught me a bit off guard when they did it, but I only saw it from across the shop. I should have checked the car more carefully on-site, but I guess I just figured they know how to do their job better than I do.
