ICE installers in UK (and new member hi!)

Hi all,

Just picked up an 0757 Carbon Black / Champage Nappa / Piano Black Z4 Sport Coupe today after having to sell my last one, so very happy!

The only thing I want to change at the moment is the base stereo and speakers as it sounds like some £1.99 speakers plugged into a £2.99 cassette walkman.

Can anyone recommend any ICE installers in the UK that either specialise in Z4 installs or have at least done some in the past?

I was kinda thinking keep existing head unit (would rather not lose the Bluetooth) and running it through a JL Audio CleanSweep and then just new amp and speakers / subs.

I'm in Bristol so somewhere in the south would be great but am happy to travel.

Cheers all,

Alex

Nice motor, lucky git.
Most half decent ICE installers will easily be able to upgrade the ICE in your ZED, just about finding the right size diameter and depth components which should be easy, you have the coupe too so plenty of room for shizzle in the boot. Alpine's PDX range of stereo/mono amps make shitloads of power, BUT are they absoltely tiny and weigh very little,I would consider those for your power

I have a Cleansweep + PDX4.150 and am about to install, but probably myself as it' not that tricky.. (as long as you don't break the roof in the process like I have).

Have done a few quick tests and it sounds awesome !

Ive just had a system installed by www.rammobile.com (near leeds) who did a very good job for me....I believe they are part of this group http://www.fourcars.co.uk/ who are nationwide....i think fourmaster is a way of gaining accreditation to be a certain standard....a bit like a franchise - the guy at rammoblie said he pays around £1.5k per year to be a associated/accredited to fourmaster etc so you'd expect the same standard of work no matter which fourmaster shop install your system around the country.

It wasnt cheap to be honest - I had a new headunit, dab aerial, 2 subs, 2 amps, an eq and the front 3way components installled for £500 (allparts provided but myself) so this was pure labour for 2days work!

Hope this helps and welcome to the forum mate...

Pete

For the record, I take it back about www.rammobile.com - turns out they installed an amp that wasnt even working and never actually tested it( a bargain for just £500 and being without my car for 4days- 2days longer than they said it would take...not even an apology!')....then they try to blame me for the fault when i highlighted it wasnt only not working, but also configured incorrectly...laughable! This company are truely the worst I've come across in a long time in terms of customer service and technical ability - be warned! :headbang:

well, they mangaged to complete the parts of the install that i wasnt really that confident with( installing the front components really etc)...and all the wiring was put in place by them - so all i've done is buy another amp to run my subs and install it....its all in and working fantastic now - well chuffed with my setup...being a bit of a car audio geek i'll list what i've got in :

Rainbow SLC365 Kick Front Components,
2 x JL 6W3v3 6.5" Subs behind seats,
Kenwood KAC-6203 running the Subs,
Infinity RA7502 running the Front Components.
JVC KD-R901 Headunit with DAB Add-on,
Phoneix Gold EQ15 Equaliser.

All in all it sounds fantastic.... i'd recommend the Rainbow SLC365 Kick components to anyone - superb quality and even the bass from the footwell area is plentiful!

I'll do pic mate.... I had the subs installed (didnt do them myself), but they seem to fit just fine, they also dynammated, three times over, the cubby hole area where the subs are located ...I've obviously had the speaker covers/grills off and they've just used some mdf to fashion the housing..... I heard a few reports saying that the bass isnt good enough out of these subs in the z4's, but for me they are more than adequate...if you've also got a decent pair of components in the front then the bass in the cabin is superb! The rainbow speakers are quality too...that useless company who installed the system price matched me some that i'd found on another website for £305...but the morons actually managed to supply and fit me with the upgraded speakers which are the "kick" model...these retail at around £470....as they had no clue they'd done this it means i got them for £305 = result! :)

result.. where are you based ? Interesting they used MDF and not the BMW plates.. maybe why they fit ok ?

I'm in the Leeds area Andy... and yeah - I'm not sure why they used the mdf to be honest...I did supply them with the bmw speaker adapter/fixings but they decided to use/build their own stuff?!?! I'll get some photos up this week....

cheers
