Hi all,

I have just got my Z4 05 plate and really want to get rid of the orange indicators on the back, sides and possible front, my question is, is there a direct replacement for the lights with ones with clesar lenses?

Thanks

Danny

back and sides are straight replacements and easy

back about £300 from your dealer
sides about £20 from your dealer

prices from memory which isnt as good as it used to be  I can find the invoice for more accurate if you want/need?

fronts are alot more expensive if available... you car have xenons or not?

edit - turns out my memory aint that bad... Paid £319.65 for the clear rears and 2 sides :D

Now the fronts are the one's to do, but you need serious money for those...

Do you guys have halogen or Xenon?

I can't get over the price of the front and rear lamp units :o

Side ones at £20 are fair enough, but £300 for the rears and christ knows how much for the fronts is just obscene IMO. Yes, we're driving premium cars, but chuffin hell. As much as I've like to convert mine, I could never justify the best past of £1k on lights :(

£1,000 -  You'll be lucky

Front Xenons are around £750 plus VAT each from the dealers (I did find out and post exact figures some months back). If you upgrade and need to add in the OEM bulb, ballast and bulb connector you're into £2,000 plus for the pair of those alone.

When I first saw the facelift with the clear indicators, thought they look good, bit like you say Ally at that price you can't justify it.

Not got the bottle to go your route CJ.

Why you'd buy any of this NEW is beyond me. BMW clearly make a huge markup on these bits.

Tons of bits for sale or on breakers going through if you keep an eye out... tons cheaper too!

I had to replace one of my rears due to a hole in it. So bit the bullet and bought the clears for both sides - otherwise I would not have bothered.

Agree there. Would never pay a dealer price. Leave that to accident repairs and insurance claims.
Strangely since I converted my lights to clears the price of them on Ebay has rocketed. Co-incidence?? Not sure, but I got my clears as damaged for as little as £10 for one a year back

I was stung yesterday. I needed 5 exhaust bolts. The 4 x 50mm were 28p so no probs. The longer 75mm arrived 2 days later and was £5.66 !! Ordered, so I went with it else damage my dealer goodwill , but jeez £5 plus for a bolt

Just been looking on realoem though - can you even get clear indicator halogen with chrome inserts - looks discontinued to me :idunno:

realoem headlight

I would have no doubt it's available. EU laws and all that, provided a clear silver insert halogen was available on the 2005 prefacelift. Dealer had no trouble pricing me one 6 months back

You're obviously looking in different places to me - rare as rocking horse sh*t from what I've seen!

When you buy the clear side repeaters from BMW for £20, what do you get? Do you take the BM Badge from your old ones or is a complete replacement unit?

And are they £20 each or as a pair? :?

Cheers :)

Yes car back from the body shop :)

You take the badges from the old ones (careful taking them off and you will need some way of fixing them to the new ones - think I used some 3M double sided tape or similar.

£20 for the pair - though you buy them as singles

IIRC the standard BMW fixing is a donut ring of 3M double sided tape. I just used clear silicone though as it's cheap, waterproof and durable
