I want a 3.0 Coupe - buying advice?

I'm a current 08 E92 320M owner but looking for something a bit quicker and less practical, and I've pretty much decided on a Z4 (my other shortlisted option was a Cayman but they seem so much more expensive and high risk to run). I don't really want to go older than 08 but could for the right car.

So with that set... broadly speaking I want a black or blue (either blue) car with a good spec - M-Sport suspension essential (Xenon's, cruise control, leather heated seats would be nice), and low mileage. Is there anything I should be looking out for?

Autotrader's selection seems a bit sparse at the moment... and many of them seem a bit expensive?

Anything people think is worth looking at on the below list? I'm still a little confused by the model options and what the extras are.

Welcome :) to get the Msport springs etc you need to make sure you go for the SI Sport as opposed to SI Se
Those are the 2 model choices & both will have the same engine & bhp
As for views on values ? That all depends on spec, miles, warranty, history etc so same as any other car
My own thoughts would be to go for a 2007 car under £10k as you will notice virtually no difference other than your wallet being £2k/£3k lighter
There are 2 2008 Coupes listed on the forum both Sport models at £13k & £14k but maybe worth a PM to "Wildfire" on here , he has recently mentioned selling his 60k Coupe for £9k
Best of luck

hello and welcome

good look with your search, there's not much that goes wrong with the coupe, but watch for a tapping engine and rust on the tailgate, on the inside

As Mr. Wilks says I wouldn't worry too much on age, theey were only in production for 2 years so I wouldn't limit yourself on this. Mileage and condition are better to go by.

there were produced for 3 years, 2006, 2007, 2008

you can however find cars registerd as 2009 plates, the last prduction date was August 2008

you can still get the Msport suspension if your SE has the right options ticked, my SE roadster has had Msprings from new.

regards

You can indeed , there was a SE highlighted on here some months back with Mseats & Msuspension leading to the ask of why not just order the Sport :?

Thanks for all the comments so far.

I can't seem to find any around £10k, they all seem to be £11-15k depending on the model. I swear when I looked a few months ago they were cheaper...

I will keep searching and report back... looks like its a case of compromising on the spec and travelling a fair way to find one, though.

There's Daaaavvveee's Si Sport Coupe on here: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=77685 No sat nav, mileage at 67k, it's a sport (assume this means M suspension components??), heated seats, xenons, and it's in budget & the right colour at a good price - worth a look maybe?

Good luck with your search
