I think i have a problem

Well decided to drive the Z to work today as it was such a nice day (only cleaned it recently) so took a risk and got it out the garage. Sods law it decided to rain just before I went home. After driving it home I could see how much crap the rain had covered my car in and I was really pissed :thumbsdown:

The thing is i seem to be getting paranoid and only want to drive it on dry days. It seems ridiculous as i should be able to enjoy the car whenever I want and in any weather. I never use to worry about rain before i had a garage.

I keep telling myslef i should not be so stupid about such a trvial thing but it really gets to me (mainly because it means I will have to clean it again).

Does anyone else have this strange affliction :lol:
 
these are major issues, i think the forum should arrange group sessions, we all need to over come these emotions, it will be very hard, but talking will help, its a start
 
im terrible for this but unfortunatly ive modded my car so heavily its no a completly un practical road vehicle, in the wet weather its would probably be dangerous with slick tyres, brakes that dont work when cold and enough power to have a brown trouser moment.

im now planning well ahead and will put off events if the weather goes bad.....

sometimes its completly not possbile but 99% of the time i will use this car in the dry, i dont care if its 1 degree, as long as its dry with no salt on the road i will drive this car!!

if its wet or damp...... the zed stays home!
 
I recommend you drive the car as much as possible. :driving: I used to own "garage queens" and fret over any and all use . . . especially in wet weather. Over the years, I sold my "garage queens" and realized I didn't enjoy them as I should have, the buyer got an awesome car and . . . I paid for the depreciation! Stupid on my part. :headbang:

So, I recommend that you just drive and enjoy. I don't even wash my Z4 anymore as I bring it to a nice car wash for that. Unless you enjoy detailing . . . let someone else do it. Life is too short. Z4 Pilot

I'm also a firm believer in playing with your toys every chance you get. What's the point in having a great car to drive if you don't drive it? :poke:

I agree but it just seems such a shame to get it all dirty when it was pristine in the garage, it's just the hassle and time of cleaning it AGAIN. I hardly ever get anyone else to clean it as my previous Z came back from a delear after a service and they managed to put a great big scratch down the whole bonnet :x couln't prove it as it ws days later i realised.

May not have been the dealer but a jealous passerby seeing the gleaming car.

Unless you are Jay Leno or similar, and can afford to keep 1:1 models of cars you like then only buy cars that you will drive...otherwise what's the point?
 
It's a BMW not an Enzo. Use the thing! It's not like the paint is made from soluble materials and the thing is going to melt away :?

Enjoy the short time we have on this Earth I say. Who knows what's round the corner (I don't mean that literally of course :P)

The Z was designed to be driven, not looked at. We are all really lucky that we own not only a cracking looking car, but one that drives beautifully.

To all those who wont drive in the wet or even get their cars dirty. You will regret it. Life is too short. Nobody knows what is around the corner, so enjoy the hard work it took to save for your pride and joy by doing what it does best. Drive it!

You may as well sell it, buy a banger and look at photos of it just after you cleaned it!

You can't hear the engine, feel the poise as it goes around bends, sense the right time to change gear (if you have a manual that is) or feel the obvious wind in your hair (If it is a roadster) unless you drive it.

To all you auto coupe drivers out there, I can understand if you don't drive it that much now as you can't make the gear change or feel the wind in your hair! :rofl: :poke: :fuelfire:

Love driving in heavy rain on an early Sat morn run to the coast its like being a kid on a camping trip with the rain beating down on the soft top :D

What annoys me is when you spend ages detailing the car then it rains as mine lives outside so annoying but last week was the opposite after spending around 10 hours cleaning and proofing top and around 8 hours on paintwork it has not rained all week :D :D

Love keeping my Z as gleaming as pos but i will drive in the wet but not ever will my car go out in snow and salty roads that i do not like.
 
I do look after my cars and apart from watching where i park, i drive them like i stole them, they are sports cars after all.
 
tonight i am going to the trafford centre, for the none locals - its a big shopping centre, i will not go in the zed because of the parking

i need to get over this :headbang:
 
Guys, most of the time the British weather is rain :rofl:

Drive the car... you can't drive the Zed when you're dead and no one is going to wash it for you when you are gone. I have had some fantastic cars over the years and they all got driven about 20k a year!

Oh but hey maybe you should have got a Coupe :fuelfire:

Pick up mine Saturday and it will be my daily drive, rain or shine... snow err maybe not :D that will be the Disco3.
