I need a torque wrench

Having spent ages looking in garage I can't find a torque wrench anywhere...

Looked online at halfords and Tesco extra as there is one by me and the cheapest is line 40 quid, just need it to torque the six nuts for my strut brace

Any ideas where I can either borrow one or find one dirt cheap? Or even a very local forumer from around cosham area has one I can borrow? I'm impatient :lol:

Or can I go to halfords and get one of their chimps to lend me one? I need locktite anyway...

If its just for a 1 off job, then why not ask a local garage? Perhaps they'll lend you one whilst on site, or do it for you for £10????

Or be naughty....buy one from Halfrauds, use it carefully, then take it back (in mint condition) and get a refund. This is fraud and I wouldn't consider suggesting such a thing. Oh....I just did!
 
No one that needs a favour is ever local (well, except Bing).

Surely a member has one you can borrow.
 
Yeah I've looked on eBay but not gum tree yet, asking All the neighbours ATM but no one seems to have one, ill keep trying but if not ill just buy one. Every man needs a torque wrench don't they?

Can't you just use a screwdriver? :lol:

Alternatively, take it to next Meet and ask very nice member to bring one..that's what I did (thanks again Monkey :thumbsup:)

Yeah rubes ill just use a screw driver or maybe a set square and a torch to do it :P
And I'm not waiting till the next meet, I want it done by weekend :thumbsup:
 
Try screwfix think they have one about £20 last time i was on their website

Do you have a regular garage for servicing etc give them call and ask if you pop down, and ask if there could torque them up for you , shouldn't take no more than 5 mins to do , and bung them a drink .
 
No idea where cosham is, or where in north Wales you are but if you can get to Chester or Wrexham you're welcome to borrow mine.

Buy one from Halfords then take it back after using it & say unbelievable but when you got it home your wife had bought you one for your birthday 8)

It's one of those bits of kit you don't need often but are invaluable, one sheared bolt can cost a lot more in time and aggro (and strut brace fixings have been known to shear!).
I got a new one from a tool specialist sale a few months ago for about £35 which included certification, a cheapo non-certified wrench is a bit of a gamble which may be little better than guessing, so sorry I'm too far away :|
 
Cheers for the offers guys, I'm gonna keep searching for one until Saturday and then I will just buy one, least it will last forever and will come in handy at some point in future :thumbsup:
Just thought I'd try and be cheap :P
