I miss my Z4

Bit of a random post but I really miss my Z4.

I wish I had never sold it. I had a 2007 3.0si and bought and sold it through here. Since then I’ve had an M140 and now an M4 competition which although are much faster they just lack the pleasure I got from the Z4.

A manual box, no fake piped in sound, minimal traction control made it a great car to drive. I’m not a fan of the the E89 and G29 myself. The E85 looked stunning and no car since can compare to it in my opinion.

I went on a meet in the Lake District through here in 2015 and having a snake of 30 ish Z4s through lakeland villages was a great memory.

Just looking through some old pics of her and wishing I had never sold her. Getting the itch to buy one again

Do it! I often think of trading mine in for something like a 335i but then the next time I drive it, I remind myself why I love it. The wife can’t understand why a 13 year old car makes me so happy, she is easily pleased with the bells, whistles and screens on new cars. I prefer the driving experience as you say!

I can relate to that!

I regretted agreeing to sell my first Z4 in 2016, so 2 days after it got taken away I collected its replacement. And now I'm on my third. :D

Looking at what you have had since surely an Alpina or an MR would fit the bill? Always subject to budget obviously.

Although you did have a bit of fake sound in a 3.0Si with the Sound Generator!

Anyway if you are getting the itch why not just scratch it?

That's what I did in December when I bought my MC in December 2019 and I haven't regretted a moment.

The M4 is great but after seeing a Z4 last week at the car wash I knew I shouldn’t have sold it. Keep on to yours. A future classic for sure.

I’m a big fan of Alpina. Would love to drive the Alpina Z4

I sold my Z4 in the summer and 50% of the enquiries were from people who had recently sold their z4, in fact I sold it to a guy who had a 2.0 and wanted a 3.0 so ended up with 2 z4’s.

I must say if I had a m140 or M4 competition I doubt I’d miss the z4 too much. Did you not consider manual M4, m2 or something like a cayman? Manual Cayman gt4 is my dream car

In terms of affordability it was between an M2 and M4. I’ve got an M4 Competition DCT and it’s awesome but I just love the looks of the Z4, the low driving position, very minimal traction control, manual box, just a back to basics roadster. One of the best and under rated cars BMW have made.
