A Z4M is a totally different proposition to any sort of Evo/Subaru/other cars which are easy to modify and have a reputation for big mods. Z4Ms (and all Z4s TBH) are sorted cars already and mods aren't really needed.

Without pigeon-holing any particular group, I'd guess Z4M/Z4 buyers aren't the "type" of person as likely to modify a car: they're more likely to buy it and be happy not to mess around with it to much. I'd also guess that in a few years time this will change as Z4s become more affordable and hence bought be "folk with higher tendencies to modify". Also, given that few cars are outside of warranty yet, it's reflected in the number being modded.

Personally, I think this forum is fine. Got enough activity that you don't miss much if you're not online for a few days, but not too quiet to be dull. Just fine IMO. And it's good that it's a bunch of enthusiasts. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect given that - in the UK at least - BMW owners have a certain stereotype, which is completely untrue on the basis of Z4 drivers on here :)

And BTW, stp wiff the txt spk and spk proprly :P

What an unusual thread. Why would anyone really mod a ///M when it costs so much, is probably still in warranty and likely bought by people who buy it in the knowledge that BMW get it about right with the ///M versions? Touch an ///M and I bet it drops in value like a stone and becomes unsaleable.

I suspect ///M's will largely always be kept 'as-is' (unless taken to the circuit for serious use) enjoyed, driven hard, well maintained and then gracefully age to be collectors cars.

If you want mods I've done a few - not an ///M but a project car (and chucked about 3000 posts in):

A few Modifications from roughly front to rear:

2006 ‘facelift’ front end
Custom clear indicator lenses with CCFL angel eyes
Narrowed number plate and mount to match registration
Clear side repeaters
Carbon fibre badges throughout, bonnet, sides, boot, wheels and steering boss
Alutec triangulated Strut brace
Air horns
Custom ‘smoked chrome’ 108’s
Falken tyres and OEM mobility unit to replace RFT’s
‘Big brake’ conversion to 325mm slotted and vented EBC discs, red calipers and greenstuff pads
Reinhold remote roof/window opening and 1 touch roof modules.
Sound insulation in doors and large panels
MFSW for audio, phone, Sat Nav. Etc.
Paddle shifts to control Steptronic auto box
Cruise control module
Dream red ///M sport seats on electric memory and heated bases
Matching dream red door cards
Aftermarket Door speakers
Illuminated ‘Z’ sills
Second under seat storage box on driver side
Alloy pedal covers
Door LEDS inner and outer handle and LED puddle lights, controlled by auto dimming system
Bluetooth phone retrofit module and column microphone
Hardtop (not really a mod, but not a standard fit)
White spot rear lights
Clear third brake light
And cupholders are on the parts desk at BMW to collect and a ///Msport rear is about to be delivered for a quad conversion

Wow!! - 3000 posts - you must be a GOD - especially considering those REALLY tasteful mods that you've totally wasted your families money on!

It's people like you whom I, & the majority despise. Yet you don't ( & never will ) see it. Think about your posts - & bragging about your (probably non-existant) collection.......

Sorry, but if that's your attitude go and play somewhere else.

This is a site for Z4 enthusiasts. I could criticise you for driving a Z4 instead of a Ford Fiesta in the same grounds that it's your families money.

You come across very arrogant and I have no idea with your attitude why you choose to frequent this forum.

Well, if it writes like one, posts like one and sounds like one, then I guess it is one...

Now, where's my TROLL repellent :brucelee:

Ok, I am going to lock this now. I would just like to say I am locking it because of where this thread went, and not how it was started. The initial post sparked interesting debate, and that is most welcome... just a shame it got dragged down.
