Break-in suspects found asleep on stolen goods
Police say a trail of pillows and backpacks led to two sleeping men who were arrested after a department store break-in.
Sleepy Time

Now are they that dumb or are they really really smart, and just want a dry place to sleep with regular meals.

Speaking of a dry place to sleep and regular meals: You may know that I worked in Law Enforcement and Corrections most of my life. One day when I was at one of our state institutions on business, I asked the warden if anyone ever asked to be locked up? He said it happens all the time and the crooks can not believe they have to go to all the trouble of committing a crime, being convicted and sent to prison when all they would willingly just go to jail on their own. Sad commentary so maybe these guys were just doing what they needed to do to get back with their buddies in the can. The civil libertarians have made prison a relatively nice place to be for many of these guys. What ever happened to the concept of punishment?

Political correctness and liberalism put a dent in the concept of personal accountability.

One man's punishment is another man's nirvana.
It's all about perspective, right?
If you have no food and shelter, then jail seems like comparatively pleasant place.
I don't think this is a new concept. For as long as there have been jails, there have been people who are more comfortable inside than outside.

Me? I prefer the outside. (not that I've ever been inside, except as a tourist on Alcatraz)

Do what the most liberal, perhaps socialistic, president (FDR) did: create social programs: CCC, WPA, etc. Instead of entitlements, let these malcontents actually do something. <I hear a ACLU UCAV circling over my house.>

Cool. Have them build more roads like the Blue Ridge Parkway, or the Natchez Trace Parkway.

And I have some potholes that need filling.

I'd rather that they did that, then spend all that money on an unwinnable war.

I feel the left coast voicing a populist opinion. Vietnam was winnable, btw. Perhaps a discussion on another forum at a different time.

They are actually there to hold the car together

Ever notice that most bumperstickers are from the liberal end of the spectrum? Or is it just the town i live in?

Louv, I didn't know they allowed pot holes in your town. I thought they rounded them up and sent them someplace like Alviso or Milpitas.
