I killed my roof motor confession

roof was working fine last week until 2 days ago, I was driving my friend around and he wanted to see how the roof goes down so I press the mighty roof down button... but it retracted sluggishly... then i realized the roof was frozen from the cold weather... check again today it was still sluggish but upon my 3rd try it wont move anymore. Please add me to the dead roof motor members list.

Anyways I am looking for a reasonably priced indie to do my inspection II and fix the roof, any recommendations? I live in the Ruislip area (NW London)

now please slap me for my foolishness.

yea it was louder than usual... any clue? its dead right? I guess i overworked it trying to open a frozen roof, but i only did open it 2-3 inch then i close it back down.
 
Hey twin. I did the same. I'm hoping no noise at all means just the motor is dead. Will be tackling it myself. This I do know for sure.

hello twin, another reason why i hate winter! Glad that you can tackle it yourself as I am a mechanical retard! :headbang: please update us on what the problem is!! I was praying its not the motor! I might just buy a hardtop for it :rofl:
 
I can't really tackle it in winter I'm afraid. I need the long days of the summer to get it all done in a day unless I take it to a unit I use and leave it there, but I simply can't stand being car-less.
 
I prefer engine/suspension/brakes (metal) as opposed to bits of plastic that I can break. I also want to get my motor working, sod paying silly money for another.

I've figured the perfect place to do it though, my company currently own a large building that is going to be disused for hours, I have power, lights, and a nice flat, semi clean floor. Sorted.
