Last week I got a bit if a surprise when I noticed my Jeep MOT was due on 6th february :D
Which meant an 11 hour trip through the mountains from Trondheim to the boat in Brevik back to blighty ....

Sitting at schipol right now waiting for my flight to Ediburg contemplating tomorrow's trip, boat to Gothenburg (Sweden) then a 13 hour trip through the snow back to Trondheim ........

This s**t never gets old ..... Hahaha ......

Why not do a local equivalent to MOT? I never bothered with the Dutch APK whilst I had my Dutch registered car here, MOT was fine.

Surely your insurance becomes automatically invalid when you go past your MOT - and would an overseas check be recognised by the DVLA / your insurance company ?

Anyhoo, great snowy 4x4 hooning :D

Insurance and MOT are not related. My Golf is Sorned at the moment and there is no MOT on it, but sure is insured.

And when I get it MOT-ed later on this year, it is still insured.

You are only complying with the local requirements, so if the car is used in Nordic and tested there - it complies there.

Going to have to disagree with that comment .......

Small print on my documents say that a valid MOT document must be in place, when a vehicle is SORN'd it is only insured for theft and damage ....... Not for 3rd party liability .......

A foreign test certificate is only valid on a vehicle registered in that country ....... And, try getting a vehicle tested on a uk plate in a country like Norway .......

European insurance is completely different to UK insurance anyway, dutch and Norwegian for example ......its the car thats insured, whereas in the UK its the person .......

Oh and another wee point, I once crossed the border into Holland in my Dutch car and was denied entry because my APK (dutch MOT) had run out out by 2 weeks ....... And yes, that really happened.

Anyway, ..... Enough of this, Im getting ready for a proper hoon ...... 8)

I've been waiting for the weather to turn like that since buying my Evoque, but all it's done since is rain!! :P
