I am a virgin......Help needed

I have gathered from reading this forum I am in the company of many experienced people, and it's you such folks I now turn to for gentle help in this delicate matter. As the subject states , I am a virgin. I have now decided to do something about this, and have decided to take the plunge so to speak. I realise at this point some of you may have had a little snigger or possibly even  at my predicament. But for those still interested in helping thank you.
So onto the delicate questions.
I am travelling to New York in March and am basically looking for advice ,tips does, dont's.
We are there for 3 nights only before going on a Caribbean Cruise.
So good places to eat, good places for night out ? What should I not miss , what should I not waste my time on ?
Basically any advice you may have please feel free to share either here or via email.
Thanks as always in advance Steve.

A sex virgin or simply that you've never been to NYC before? (I am thick with these things!).

If its NYC, then I recommend buying one of the city bus tours - we went a few years ago, bought a 3 day ticket for the blue hop-on and off buses (there is also another company that use red buses...think both are about the same). Our tickets included Empire State, Rockafella Building (another tall building) and also boat trip to statue of liberty. Also think about going to ground zero - its free, if it interests you.

The tour guides are New Yorkers, and they can give you all the recommendations you could ever need!

DONT go into the Omega boutique on 5th Avenue....you may drop $6500 on a watch!

Ask about the TKTS booth in Times Square - cheap show tickets.

If its the sex thing, then I'm not the person to advise, other than if its with someone you love, then surely they will understand.

Going to NYC?
Take a Circle Line Cruise around Manhattan - the full 4 hour one - it's great and you will see NYC from all angles.
Go to Mid-town- See the Park, Museums (Met. Museum of Art, Museum of Natural History), go up top of the Empire State building, Rochefeller Center... there's so much to do.
Go down to the Village and stop by McSorleys - oldest Ale House in the US - Abe Lincooln drank there... One of my favorite places for over 40 years... and I live in California!

The Brooklyn diner for breakfast, will keep you going till super

Go to Central Park. Head north - west through strawberry fields to W72nd street. Take a good long look at the Dakota building and ask why?

Then thoroughly enjoy everything else the city has to offer

(Perhaps I'm a bit old)

Enjoy

The Dakota was one of the memorable highlights of my last visit.

Besides that there is lots to see, depends on your tastes (and depth of pocket). Broadway show, boat to Liberty Island, NBC TV studios, Empire State, etc etc.

3 days is not long in NYC.

Only 3 days? Lots to do in that time - Central Park (include the horse & carriage ride for a few brownie points), Top of the Rock, Liberty Island, etc all worth a visit, especially for a first timer. For a bit of fun, try one of the speedboat rides up the river. For dinners, always look at the Zagat guides, would recommend Smith and Wollensky (http://www.smithandwollensky.com/) for a good steak, or Edwards in Jersey City is also very good and a bit cheaper. Check out the piano bars just off Broadway - loads of Broadway singers in there, great atmosphere. Lots of little coffee shops (with cannoli of course :) around soho and the village. And of course, don't forget to allow time for shopping... :)

I've been 3 times in the last 2 years... My advise for a first time is get a 3 day new york pass to save money and then check off what you want to see based on that.

My personal favs.... Top of the rock, is better then top of the empire state and you get better pics... Mainly because when people think of NY they think of the empire state... And so you can get a pic of it from the rockafella!

I think visiting the crown on the statue of liberty is a waste... The views are rubbish... But if you want to do it book in advance (months) otherwise you prob wont get a ticket.

Do a broadway tour.

Circle line tour as above

Guggleheim is fascinating

Walk from brookly to manhatten over the Brooklyn bridge at night

A helicopter over liberty island is nice... But wasnt amazing

Hire a bike through central park.

Nbc studio tour

Yanky stadium

The first time i went in 2000 i was only there 3 days and saw 90% of the best bits.

But a not so well known secret... If you want the best pics of manhattan at night... Pier 6 on Brooklyn docks... You get all of lower manhatten inc the freedom tower. This is one i took last oct

Also get to eat pizza at the world famous Grimaldi's!

The Staten Island Ferry is free (well it was when I was 21) and gives you a good view of the Statue of Liberty. Worth a hop on and back. I only had a few days in NYC on my own, went up the Twin Towers, Empire state, Times Sq. Would love to go again and see more one day. Enjoy your trip and report back.

... Oh, and drink a manhattan in Manhattan. Gets you started on the theme drink collection (Bombay sapphire gin in Mumbai(Bombay), Singapore sling in Singapore... You get the idea) :D. Selecting holidays based on alcohol names is as good a way as any others ;)

All the above plus The Chrysler building. Lots of strange looking concept cars on display. Not sure if it's still the same as I was there more than 10 years ago. Whatever you decide I'm sure you'll have a great time

I took many a picture from the Jersey City shoreline - quick PATH train across the river to Newport (Pavonia), or use the ferry. There is an excellent fish restaurant and Japanese tea house there, and a waterfront where you can walk alongside the river (goes between Exchange Place and Hoboken, Frank Sinatra's birthplace) and the views across the river to Manhattan are brilliant.
