Hunter alignment to reduce tramlining?

Just had my other car aligned using a Hunter system at my local Infiniti dealer (very impressed with their service BTW)

Thinking of taking the Z4 in - anyone know if this can be used to reduce tramlining tendencies?

An accurate set up should ensure your Zed will perform at its best. Alignment is just one element which effects handling - tyre choice can have a significant impact as well as potential worn bushes etc.

Two years ago i bought a set of hankook evo v12's. Recently, i noticed a bit of tramlining. I had my tire shop dismount the tires and had them put on the opposite side. The high camber of the Zed can also lead to excessive inside edge tire wear. Which can lead to ill straight line handling. At the same time i had them do an alignment. Problem solved. My toe setting on the front had the tires pointing out. I promptly went to the autobahn and ran up to 120MPH. The nervous steering went away and felt very steady.

As previous posters have mentioned, there are many aspects to a car's handling. The Hunter equipment is a good machine to set the specs that you want, the hard part is knowing what you want and where to start. Talk to the techs, find one who knows what they're talking about and not one who can only set up a car as specified in the manual. Suspension wear, driving style, tire life...are all part of the equation.
