Hunter alignment and MTMC Tyres in Tonbridge

I discovered a slight steering wobble on our recent trip to Scotland, from about 70mph and above, and the car also pulls to the left very slightly on straight, flat roads. There's no juddering under braking and the car does not veer under braking or acceleration. So I figure it needs an alignment - no biggie, it's done a few miles now so it's probably a good idea anyway.

I went to alignmycar.co.uk and found MTMC Tyres in Tonbridge who have a Hunter system. They provided the following quote :

The charge for a 4 Wheel alignment is £ 60 + Vat

If there are any of the following adjustments required then there will be additional charges :

1. Camber and castor adjustment £ 15.00 + Vat per corner
2. Steering Sensor reset £ 15 + Vat

So that all comes to £135 + VAT - or £162 all-in, assuming that camber and castor adjustment will be required on all four wheels. My last car was aligned by a chap who works with my indie (who has a mobile alignment unit) for £150 cash, but they don't open on Saturdays, and my weekdays working at home are not very free right now

Two questions :

1. Does this seem a reasonable price for a full Hunter alignment ? I'm sure I've seen lower on here.
2. Is there anywhere else in Kent, preferably near Maidstone, that anyone would recommend ?

I know F1 tyres in Maidstone do alignment but they use something called the Supertracker System which I've never heard of before... And I just don't like the look of the place

I paid about £150 at BMSport in Bexleyheath but I'm sure some have paid far less.I was also having a new clutch fitted in my van at the same time in Bexley Village and the guy there said he could do it for £50 :headbang:

I used F1 in Maidstone for mine and it was defiantly a hunter machine, paid about £120 and it took them about 2 hours, they also wanted it back within 7days just to recheck and make any adjustments that were needed.

Mine needs redoing now as I've fitted my KWs but want to sort some bushes on the rear before I get it sorted

Interesting. Maybe I am looking at a different one actually - Formula 1 instead of F1. Shall have another look.

was Formula one sorry, maybe they changed there systems as it was a hunter machine at the time. There website seems to state super tracker now. Maybe best to phone them

Have heard good things about MTMC and was going to use them but needed it done saturday morning so ended up not using them as they were busy

So I received this from MTMC earlier today, as I had replied and said that I'd "book the car in when I next get a moment to call"...

We have had an upgrade of our Hunter equipment and in light of the new installation we are offering a special price for a 4 wheel alignment.

We can offer a full four wheel alignment at £108 inc VAT that will cover all possible adjustments.

I assure you full satisfaction with the work we will carried out. If you have custom specifications that you would like on the vehicle it is something we are happy to do for you too.

Came from the owner I think, as opposed to just the service desk, as it was signed personally. I wonder if they do regular googling and found my post - sensible business practice in this day and age.

Anyway, seems like a feckin' good deal to me - think I'll book it in. Just need to find a Costa to settle into for a couple of hours in Tonbridge

I might also tell them I'm on here and see if they'd offer a forum discount.
