I like having physical music. If you go anywhere without 3/4G or wifi what do you do? How many actually sync to the phone so you always have it with you?
I went traveling for a year or so and it was amazing the amount of people who completely rely on Spotify. Being out in the middle of nowhere in Africa and all these people that joined had 2-3 songs they had synced from Spotify for 12-13hr journeys because they hadn't thought of syncing and it would be available. Thankfully Africa has one of the best cellular systems in the world so it was fairly easy for people to get sims but then most had locked phones so had to try and download when we got to civilisation. Problem was when you go a week or 2 without wifi everyone wants it and 15-16 people connecting at once with all the automatic built in protection on your phone like photo and icloud back ups, email downloads, notifications etc etc nobody could do anything at all and as you would expect most wifi wasn't fast even for one device.
Granted an extreme reason but in the UK there are a huge amounts of black spots. In Cumbria where I'm from if you get out of the towns then you mostly have no signal because of the mountains, probably the same in the peak district and a fair amount of wales and Scotland.
My iPhone is a 128gb (bought this big specifically for the above reason) so I just sync most of my music and have it with me all the time and download anything I want when I hear it. I also use iTunes all the time and use it with devices in the house using airplay. Really easy through the phone or iPad too.
